Over the years I have experimented with wines and cigars. Upon recommendation I tried port with a cigar. It was a wonderful combo. For those who have not tried it, I highly recoomend it. But here is a warning. . .don't get the cheap stuff! I highly reccomend either Sandaman's Founder Reserve, usually available for $18 per bottle or Noval LB at about $22 per bottle. I had my first Montecristo with the Sandaman's about a year ago for my birthday and all I can say is. . WOW.

I enjoy a good porto on occasion. I've never been a fan of the tawny ports but Warre's Warrior Porto Special Reserve has found a spot in my rotation. It's a little sweet with a dry finish and went very well with the Toraño 1916 Camaroon and the Bucanero elCapitan. Both cigars are slightly sweet and lighter bodied than my usual picks but excellent cigars none the less and great with that specific port.
I agree.... Port is a wonderful way to share a drink with your favorite smoke... May i suggest you look out for ''Crusted port''... No way the mad prices as the big named special reserves but every bit as enjoyable... You enjoy my friend...
Coffee really does it for me. That is what I drink when I try something new. I smoked cigars for 25 years before I ever tried it and after I did I felt like really missed out all those years.
I've done that too. A good bold coffee in the morning out on the deck or at my favorite fishing spot is one hulluva way to start the day.
A good reasonably priced alternative is Australian port "style" wines. Look for R.L. Buller Tawny ($12/750ml), or other fortified wines from this producer; they're pretty amazing, irregardless of price. Don't forget the nuts and the bleu cheese.
I've always loved to enjoy a cigar and a glass of port...I feel its the perfect combo. I especially love tawny ports and ruby ports. I may buy me a bottle of ruby port Saturday so I can have something to sip on while smokin a cigar on my back porch after work!!
A good Porto or wine paired with a good cigar is a combination that, until you've tried it for yourself, just can't be described. The time, the setting, the atmosphere, and the mood have to be right, but when it is the experience is fantastic. For myself, I prefer red wines and ruby portos. You owe it to yourself to try this combination at least once.

Good wines and ports can be found just about everywhere and are not overly expensive..... Some for less that a bottle of good bourbon or scotch.
If you can find it...... and don't laugh at the screw top until you try it...... is Jonesy Rare Aged Port - NV (750), from Australia. This stuff is less than $10 (750), and is simply fantastic. I'm considering getting a case so I keep it on hand. That's $112 or so per case.
Jonesy Rare Aged Port NV - Australia..........

Smooth and spicy, with coffee and cherry notes finishing somewhat muted. Nicely balanced, this is sweet but not too unctuous. Drink now. 5,000 cases made.
I drink an Australian Tawny port called Hardys Whiskers Blake Port. I like it because it has a smoky after taste.

It is by far my favorite port. I find it to be much better than any of the expensive, so-called "premium" ports that I've had.
HBD:

I just bought that port today from the liquor store on M Street. I'm going to give it a try either later today or tomorrow with a cigar.
I have yet to get into wine Im more of a beer guy, but the flavors you guys are mentioning is making my mouth water. I'm going to have to hit up my local beverages and More and see what ports they have in stock.
