Has anyone tried any of the cigars in Cigar Aficionado's most recent top 25? It seems that the way they go about rating them in blind taste tests is pretty fair. The #1 rated Padron Serie 1926 sounds amazing, but it's also expensive. Any thoughts on 1 thru 25?

I've had the the Sosa and the illusione. Both are excellent, though the illusione packs a bit of a punch for me. I've got the San Cristobal sitting in my humidor (along with a whole bunch of stuff not on their top 25 list) waiting for the weather to get warm enough that I can do them some justice.
Like most of the gang at the SC I feel that a lot of aficionado's ratings are some what swayed by the advertising dollar. However, again like most of the gang here at the SC, I've got no problem giving my personal feeling's about a cigar.

The Padron 1926 IS the best cigar being made. If you have never smoked this cigar, treat yourself. Even Don Pepin Garcia says his goal is to make cigars as good as Padron, and right now he feels he's close but hasn't achieved that.

OpusX is a cigar some swear by, but once again, I'm sharing my impressions so I would say OVER RATED, It's ok, but not all that.

Monte #2 is a classic. Great Cuban. If you can find one, Get it and enjoy.

Oliva V is a great tasting cigar worth every penny of $6.75. a #4 though....?

Ashton VSG is a really good cigar. I've got some friends that will smoke nothing but Ashton's

Never smoked a Cohiba maddie, but I love the Siglo's

illusione is one of the cigars that I feel is Best NEW cigar of 2007. Love 'em, love what you get for the money.

The Excalibur is good, but not a top 25...(I don't think so at least)

The CAO Vision is good but not worth the $$

Dunhill Signed is good, but Torano makes too many great cigars in the $5 range to go spend $12 on this one.

San Cristobal is a very nice cigar. It belongs in the top 25, and worth the $10

Camacho Select is the one cigar that marks the Changes that Camacho made over the past year. The first one that offered more of a verity in blend and body from the normal Camacho line up. Worthy of top25, and the $$

La Flor is a great cigar, The Chisel is a great size. Another "must try" if you have never smoked one. Litto Gomez makes some Great Cigars!

Love Tatuaje, but never smoked this one, nor the Cuban Punch DC

Pepin Black is a great cigar, (worthy )

Felipe Power SR is an average cigar, not a top 25

R y J Aniversario is ok and worth $6, but iffy on a top 25

Gran Habano 3 Siglos ??

Sosa Wavell I've never smoked, but I've heard some good things

The La Gloria Resserva Fig. I've only smoked once. I enjoyed it, but left me with an average impression.

Love all the Padilla 1932 sizes. This is a Great cigar, should be much higher then a 23.

Edge Sumatra is very average and not any where near a top 25 cigar.

The Zino Crown Series I have never smoked.

Well that is my opinion at least, and it's your fault Ken... You asked :-)
Pablo, thanks for the rundown. I'm definitely gonna note your advice when it comes time to add more cigars to the humidor. Go Giants!
Damn pablo I was going to respond but you did it for me.... I agree 100percent.... except try the Reserve Fig madura... If you like the san cristobal....in a blind smoke test you could not tell them apart....IMO....
Pepin came close with the WEST COAST
Was the run down by Pablo the ranking of the cigar? I don't even look in Ca anymore so I don't know.
Ya that was the order. Crazy huh?
Well said Pablo. There were some "interesting" cigars in the mix... A Hoyo? RYJ? These are good cigars, but come on...It's interesting to see the consumers react to this issue of CA. We were inundated with people asking about these smokes....I have always felt that, while the ratings are a great "starting point", let your own taste be your guide.... SMOKE!!
The 1926 #9 Maduro is my favorite cigar of all time; the natural is good to but the Maduro is awesome. The Tatuaje Cabaguan Guapo is and incredible smoke as well. I can't believe the Tatuaje West coast did not hit the top five.
