A friend on FB turned me on to this. It's called a Colibri Reload Torch Lighter. It has a removable, replaceable tank of butane. No more filling the lighter. You can buy the replacements in 3 packs.
I did my research and cbid, right now, has a buy it now for $15. CI sells it for $30 and that's the starting point for the rest of the web. So I nabbed one.
Then I found the cheapest replacement pack. Retails for $10 but Stogie Boys has them for $6.25. So I nabbed 3 packs.
I have a drawer full of non working lighters. It would be nice if this concept helped in prolonging the life of the lighter.

Phil, over all I've had pretty good luck with those Z-Plus butane inserts made to retrofit a conventional Zippo lighter. The insert runs $10-$12 locally. As for the Zippos, one can buy 'em new or--and this makes more sense to me--hunt up used ones with good exteriors at flea markets for $5 or less. Doesn't matter if the "guts" are worn out, missing, or broken, those parts get pitched.
I've got a smattering of other lighters including a nice Xikar (won at the weekly Party Source herf a few months back) but with the fancier ones I'm always concerned they'll get lost/swiped if they become my everyday torch.
Well, let us know how this new Colibri works out down the road. I'm not uite as down on that brand as JohnLongIsland but it's telling that one of the major tobacco shops here stopped carrying them many moons ago. Too much time spent getting them fixed/replaced according to the staff there.
My brother used to work for Colibri, they break down OFTEN and the few that i've dropped money on have all failed me far too soon. I personally have never had any issues with my Nibo lighters, well less the wife dropping one in my coffee, but even after some light cleaning it still works and I've had it for 5 years. Just my input.
