Just dropping a note to introduct myself. I'm Kyle, 34 years old, and I've smoked cigars on occasion but I've found myself wanting to not be secretive about it any longer. I find I enjoy them, so why hide?

"Ah, if only I had brought a cigar with me! This would have established my identity."
No need to hide..............you are now among friends!!! WELCOME
Key,
When I first started regularly smoking cigars my parents laughed at me. I think they thought I was trying to be a big shot. I never thought about it that way, but I guess there is some connotation of cigars as a symbol, a throwback to the days of the rober barons. Come to think of it I do feel like a big shot every time I light up a stogie. I'll have to think about this.
Welcome to Social Cigar, Key. I am also semi-closeted, so I quite understand the dynamic. Some of my friends know, some have some idea although I've never discussed it with them directly. And my family for the most part doesn't know (well, let's face it, most of my immediate family members don't know a lot of things about me...).

As for New York City, yes, you need to get your cigar-loving self over here and hang out with the G&S. We have a lot of fun. And in general, the cigar scene in New York City is vast and vibrant. Manhattan has a bunch of cigar bars and lounges, plus numerous B&Ms where you can smoke. And we now have a lounge in Brooklyn, walking distance from my building, which is exciting (but that's kinda another story). If you're coming into NYC, let us know, and we will make some plans! (and join the "Grown and Sexy in the City" group)
Glad to see you here, smoking cigars show that you have good taste! Welcome to SC Kyle!
