Social Cigar

Cigar Social Network

We've had discussions on mild; on medium, on full.  We've had discussions on sweet, spicy, mellow and bold.  Discussions on wrappers, binders, fillers.  Discussions on favorite sticks, lines, brands.  We've had discussions on top and bottom 5, 10, & 25.  We've had discussions on what sucks and what is superb.

What I haven't seen discussed [and if it was, I missed it... so we're going to do it anyway!] is the following assignment:

List your favorite mild, medium, and full bodied cigar and give me the details on it including wrapper, binder/filler and the flavor profile.  Tell me what you like about it as well.

Yes, it's work.  Yes, it might take some research.  Yes, it might also include a prize [or 2 or 3] at the end of it all.  But you must participate to find out! ; )

So, let's go!  Do you accept this Assignment:  Social Cigar Favorites?

With the weather cooling and now you giving us assignments, it feels like I'm going back to school!

If I'm going to go to all this trouble, I am going to list more than one of each (because I can't pick just one!)

Also, I'm going to change the rules - I don't think of there being three categories, but more like two, since most cigars change and pick up strength while you smoke them.

MILD to MEDIUM:

Camacho Connecticut 6x60 - Filler: Honduran and Dominican; Binder: Honduran; Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed
Not your usual mild-bodied cigar, it has some spice and complexity, and builds in strength as you progress

Montecristo White Toro - Filler: Nicaraguan and Dominican; Binder: Nicaraguan; Wrapper: Connecticut-seed Ecuadorian
Closer to medium for me, but with some of the smoothness that I expect to encounter in a mild cigar.

Zino Platinum Sceptre Shorty - Filler: Dominican and Peruvian; Binder: Connecticut; Wrapper: Ecuador
Incredibly smooth and flavorful. Even a hint of spice in it.

MEDIUM to FULL:

Oliva Serie V Double Toro - filler and binder: Nicaraguan ligero; wrapper: Nicaraguan Habano sun grown
Smooth for such a robust cigar. Can be a real head-buzzer if you don't take your time.

Puros Indios Gordo - filler and binder: Honduran; wrapper: Ecuador
The first time I smoked one of these was during the Super Bowl, and it goes perfectly with that sort of festive excitement-filled atmosphere. Straight-forward and very rich, but also some surprise sweetness would pop out now and then.

LFD Double Ligero 700 - Filler and binder: Dominican, wrapper: Ecuador
At one time I used to smoke a lot of LGC Serie R #6, which tend to be good but one-dimentional. When I moved on to the La Flor Dominicana DL, I found it had just an explosion of flavors. Notes of caramel, roasted nuts and cinnamon.
Karl = doesn't get to change the rules!
I thought I did my be-e-est, but I guess my best wasn't good enough...

Seriously, dude, I spent a good bit of time putting this together. But if you want to disqualify me, go ahead. It's your karma.

OK, let's be honest. I'm not being that serious. I'm never really THAT serious.
Isn't that the first line to an old James Ingram song?
W-A-Y too much effort for Cincybrian.

Let's see, there are four cigar categories for me:

1) The ones bought from Party Source.
2) The ones bought from Straus Tobacconist--locations in Cincy and northern Ky.
3) The ones bought from Carousel Tobacco--closest B&M to my house, great little shop.
4) The ones bought from somewhere else, like when I'm out of town.

Did I win?
Brian = Cop-out!
I have very LOW expectations of you, mmk....
St. JB = good job and no whining!
5 people have responded? That's it? Man, you guys are afraid of work!
I take it back.... only two people responded.... everyone else just BS'd. Buncha hijackers! All fluff and no filler!

; )
goes along with mmk's interest in GFY Day and other guy's packages....
Like the "mild" comment! lol
