A buddy of mine gave me a Montecristo Habana last night and it is extremely dry! It is cracked and it is starting to peel. I am trying to save it, but I am not sure what I should do. I have it in my humidor right now, but is there anything else I can do, or is it just a waiting game. Thanks for help.

If worst comes to worst, "put it in your pipe and smoke it'.
It's a shame to waste a Monte of unknown origin.
sound's like it has gotten past the point of no return .
I'd smoke it...NOW. It isn't gonna get back what it has lost if it is cracked and peeling...won't really matter how liong you try to resusitate it, it just won't happen. Smoke it and try to think good thoughts of how it might have been when it was undamaged.
I also think it is past the point of saving. I have a friend who was like, "hey you like cigars, here are some Cubans somebody gave me!" One, a Cohiba Esplendido, could not be saved - it was already crumbling, and after trying to re-humidify it for a week, it just peeled some more. So humidity may very well make your Monte worse, not better. But I bet it's really unsmokeable. Sound like it's best useage would be as compost.

The other one I got, a small Monte of some kind, seems to be doing ok. But I'll find out when I get around to smoking it. Which may be never - many people know that I am not big on smoking Cubans.

Let us know how your experiment turns out, BBoy!
