Cigar Social Network

There are so many great event posts on SC and call me lazy but I really don't want to read through them all to get the feedback I'm looking for. I know this is probably a played out subject so I'll make it short. Our new location includes a restaurant/tiki bar&outdoor patio/band stage, I am planning to do events all summer for both locals and tourists alike. Here is my problem, locals feel pricing was to high for our events last season and we had poor attendance at all except one, I do not want a repeat of that this year(trying to buy a pier). Please give your feedback as to what you want in a cigar dinner and what you are willing to pay.

MY Plan
$45.00 per person includes raffle ticket for a box
Wine/Bourbon Vendor
Cigar Rep
3 Course Meal w/ cigar after each course
cash bar ($1drafts of craft beer & $2 well drinks

Thx SC Smokers

That sounds good to me. A couple of dinners a year would be great and at that price. The other events could be cigar samplings with cash bar (That's a Great price on beers)and 3 cigars for 15 or 20 bucks weekly or bi-weekly. That keeps the price down and allows locals to return and sample different cigars.
This is definitely the place to ask. I know 2 successful and gonig on 3 in my area. Both are SC members Micah from Party source and Chris Carver from Jungle Jim's. Those 2 have been and continue to be very successful.

good luck
JJ that is a great idea, hope you don't mind me stealing it, you get here for that and it's on me all night my man...
At first glance, Tony, this sounds like a very good price to me.

Just a couple questions: would the wine or bourbon vendor be offering samplings of his/her product? Would the cigar rep be from the brand sponsoring the cigars paired with the meal? Would he/she be offering other deals on the brand in connection with the dinner?

For the sake of comparison, De la Concha, one of NYC's premier cigar stores, offers regular dinners for around $175. The two things they offer that you don't is the booze is included, and they usually have not a cigar rep, but a maker/owner (Jorge Padron or Avo Uvezian or someone like that). So I think your price of $45 is great. The one thing I don't know is how to compare your market to the NYC market - prices are high on everything here...
I only go first class my man, so I try real hard to make it look and taste great, but these people just can't see value in anything and to get $175 out of them would require a firearm. I often loose money, still OK with me, I just like the gathering itself.
another great idea, however I really want to develop some kind of cultural event around here simply for my own sanity.
hey Tommy Bahama make great flip flops. lol
Here's my "professional" opinion on these sort of things. Building a base takes time. Just because someone can't make one doesn't make the event a failure. Doing it once a week may make it a tad expensive for recurring customers and not "special". (aww, I'll do it next week) if you do it once a month or so, people will know in advance and can plan accordingly. Pimp the event in the area, including the tourist websites if you're going for that crowd too. See if you can get sponsors for liquor, cigars etc.
