hey i have never ordered from cigar one.com, i have never ordered cubans on line, i am lookin to get the five cubans on CA's top 25 list. i was just wondering if it was a safe place to order from? and how do they get around the legalities of it?
Make sure you read their FAQ. Some of the sites just won't send to US. Also someone said that if you do order make sure they guarantee delivery 100% and that if something happens you will get your money back. Good Luck
as soon as it warms up here in new england you can bet im gonna be knocking down old ladies on saturday mornings to have first dibs at garage sales after your freakin story!
I checked another forum where I used to be a regular poster and did a search for CigarOne. They are a retailer that posts their weekly specials on this forum and have been for several months. If they weren't at least above board, I can tell you that they would not be allowed to post their specials.
The legalities of purchasing Cuban cigars comes into play for the United States, not the foreign countries that sell Cubans cigars. It is not illegal for those countries to sell them or send them anywhere.. B ut it is illegal for a US citizen to receive illegal goods. If US Customs intercepts a package of Cuban cigars, they will send a letter to the address of the recipient telling them not to order Cuban cigars again. The person may even be flagged as a receiver of illegal goods for a while, and they may be scrutinized more than the usual person.
I know of vendors that actually guarantee their shipments, and if the shipment is seized, they will attempt to resend the cigars, or refund the purchasers money at the direction of the purchaser.
I hope that helps. Personally, it isn't worth it to take the risk.
I don't buy Cubans although I have smoked several that have been gifted to me. With the exception of one Bolivar Petit Corona, I thought they were all rather boring cigars. I'll take a Nicaraguan or Honduran cigar over a Cuban any day.
thanks for the info, havnt made up my mind, im 8 cigars away from gettin all 25 on CA's top 25, and 5 of them are cubans, im thinkin a small package of 5 cigars might fly under theyre radar, but i really dont know how this stuff works, and im probably just tryin to make myself feel better.
already crossed my mind, i want to go campin up there. the thing is,its not so much "cubans" im after, but a particular 5 cubans, i dont want to drive 10 hrs, then not be able to find the certain ones im lookin for. but i am going up there in next winter for a wedding, so ill get there sooner or later.
dude , chill !!
it is a discussion only .
why then is it ok for Cigar Aficionado to review and write about cuban cigar's ?
5 of the top 25 cigar's this year are cuban ... hmmm , i wonder how they got them !!!!
Kev,
Talking about CC's is not the problem.
Talking about sources for CC's is the problem.
Not only are you putting the supplier in jeopardy by him losing business, but the people he allegedly ships to are in more jeopardy by fines etc. etc. And i've posted this before, if you get busted by customs for cigars and travel abroad, for the rest of your life you and your entourage will be subjected to the most thorough of head to toe , no holes missed searches.
thank you for clearing this up john .
on the 1st page , the source that i referred to , regularly posts special's here on sc , in retailer's and manufacturers forum ..
so i didn't realize that i did anything wrong ..
Actually, several cigar websites have separate forums specifically for discussion of Cuban cigars. They request that discussions about Cuban cigars be limited to those forums, and usually request that only those who can obtain Cuban Cigars legally, use these forums.
Social Cigar has a forum for discussions about Cuban Cigars too. This forum and every forum here was created by people affiliated with Camacho Cigars. So they must know what they're doing by having added a forum for discussing Cuban Cigars.
Furthermore, one of the vendors in the Retailers and Manufacturers forum is a retailer of Cuban Cigars. On other forums Cuban Cigar vendors often post their sales.
With that said, I recommend that discussions of sales of Cuban Cigars be limited to the Cuban Cigar forum and that only those that can acquire them legally discuss their purchase in that forum. I don't see why general discussions such as Are Cuban Cigars Better Than Non-Cubans? can't be held in the Cigar Talk - General forum as long as no vendor information is discussed.
