Social Cigar

Cigar Social Network

Just got an e-mail from Camacho announcing how the company will once again be providing the Emmy Awards with lotsa free cigars for the actors, directors, etc.

Just how many of those folks do you think use their influence in efforts AGAINST the rights of "everyday" tobacco purchasers and users like the participants here at Social Cigar?

Please, support these uberelites with free stuff if you want to, and feel free to announce it on this here forum board you kindly let us play on.

But for crimony's sake, PLEASE STOP SENDING ME E-MAIL ANNOUNCEMENTS about your support of these celebrity events. Bad enough to see rich, non-customers getting freebies, but it's like a sharp stick in my eye to think of the individuals among them who would see to the outright ban of smoking everywhere if only they had enough time in front of microphones and cameras to carry off that plan.

No, no, no, Rush was on like the 5th or 6th issue. Originally it was a quarterly. The first issue had a picture of, low and behold, a cigar. The second issue had a photo of an attractive African-American woman holding a lit cigar in a white glove, very sexy, very classy. After that I don't remember. but yes, I do believe that for me, CA helped me tremendously to develop my burgeoning interest in cigars - the reviews gave me an idea of what the good brands were, and the articles let me know where the good cigar stores and lounges in NYC were. I looked forward to each new issue coming out with great anticipation.

Then when the magazine changed its format in the late-90s to what it is today - a lifestyle magazine with a little bit of cigars thrown in - I lost interest.
CA had their first "Big Smoke" in Vegas in 1992, after the successful event CA pursued Hollywood star's for interviews and photo shoots. Hollywood became more involved with cigars industry as filmmakers began to use cigars as props not only in blockbuster films, but also longtime made for TV hit's. Archie Bunker may have been one of the first to start it and many followed, including the Sopranos.

Flaco you beat me to the draw...
Cigars have been props in movies, smoked by both men and women, going back to the earliest days of film. I'm sure the same is true of tv also, although my knowledge of early television is less-developed than that of film. For ex., remember Ernie Kovacs and Milton Berle and of course Groucho Marx on "You Bet Your Life"?
What should I smoke today? Besides my daily Padron 35?
Watch him, he has a gun.
Dylan, I'm just curious, but how many boxes of cigars were given away at the Emmy's and was everyone who took a box familiar with the Camacho name?
Hello, just wanted to let you know that these gentlemen, and gentlemen like Matt Booth (Room 101 owner), do alot more than send free cigars to "uberites" they also support the troops and agencies such as "The Wounded Warrior Project". If you would like a better story to help ease the pain of the sharp stick in your eye... today we received a shipment of Room 101 and Camacho Liberty 2010 Cigars in support of deployed troops, Marines, that enjoy a fine cigar. 350 cigars total to be exact! Just wanted to let you know that it's not all about the glitz and glamour, and that it's not always dollars and cents. However, right business sense would say why not sponsor something as advertised as th Emmys and HBO?? Again Camacho Cigars along with Matt Booth and his fabulous Room 101 label are well rounded cigar professionals.

Even better, sponsor the Marines and they got your back. :)~

Ooh-Rah Gunny!
Thanks Gunny, hope you guys enjoy the cigars!
Mr Austin,

First off, thanks for the continued support for all our troops deployed! It's great to know that people such as yourself, Christian and Matt never forget the men and women in uniform fighting the good fight all over the world. When we received the shipment from Room 101, we were completely blown away! It was amazing to see the quality and the amount of Cigars and merchandise we received from Matt. Just like a Marine, Matt said he would send us some stuff and made that happen and made a bunch of Marines here very happy, but very proud of his successes. Plus, just looking at the Camacho label and knowing that we are receiving very fine, top of the line cigars was astonishing! I have a little get together planned this week with a bunch of Marines and definitely plan on sharing these fabulous Camacho Cigars with them, and continue to spread the word about the fine job you gentlemen are doing in support of our troops!

One thing one of the Marines said was "Damn, these are Camachos?!?!, other Marine: "Of course dumb ass, did you think they would send Philly Blunts?!?... nothing but the best!" haha! No offense to Phylly Blunts, but that was hillarious! I guess you had to be there.. Anyway, all I can say is thanks and keep up the great work!

Semper Fidelis,
Gunny Contreras
