With its uncharacteristic modest band and rugged construction I was expecting a serious and enjoyable smoke. I got what I expected. The pre-lit aroma was appealing in a slightly sweet manner.
It was lit evenly with a torch and I can honestly say that I was captured at the initial burn, which is rare for me as it usually takes 3/8 to 1/2 inch before I catch the tastes of many cigars.
I think Gurkha wants this cigar to grab you right away- lots of character. It strikes me as a rugged, outdoors kind of a cigar but not over-bearing in strength, unlike other fine cigars I’ve enjoyed.
