I've only been a member of Social Cigar since May 2009 and I'm glad to hear members talk about the past. The founders and longtime members of Social Cigar have made me feel a like I'm a part of the site. Thank you for that.
I'm a longtime cigar smoker and still have much more to learn about cigars. I started smoking cigars in 1989 when I gave up smoking 3 1/2 packs of cigarettes a day. With my coming from a background of cigarette smoking (I have nothing against cigarettes) I felt that cigars were just another way of enjoying tobacco without inhaling. I compared it to cigarette smoking where you go in buy a pack or two of XYZ brand and that's it. Fortunately I learned different. I purchased my first cigar at a well known Chicago B&M. I started my cigar education the same day and have done research ever since.
Since I first became a member of what I feel is the best cigar forum I've ever visited, I've made friends both real and virtual. I look forward to meeting many more of you in person.
In the "a trip down memory road" forum, other forums, chat's, post's, and meeting people I've learned so much about the day's prior to my joining Social Cigar. This knowledge has helped me meet and understand what you founders and longtime members are talking about when I've met you in person or will meet you, I can feel part of the crowd.
Sure other forms talk more about cigars, pipes, and such. However I never had the opportunity to meet anyone from another cigar forum. Social Cigar is just what it means.
Welcome to "Hiking down memory lane". I hope I hear from many FOG's ...So post away your memories, or hijack the thread so all of us can be part of the past, present and future.
