A Fuente.. Gran Reserva..... pallet has moved past this cigar... sweet. but short finish... a beginners cigar... won't go back.... I remember thinking this was the best cigar I had ever had........
My first was a Macanudo Crystal. A very mild smoke but it started me on the great journey of enjoying cigars.
Even now after having tried many different cigars I still enjoy the mildness of the Macanudo. Although I rarely smoke them any more. I prefer a much fuller bodied smoke like the Camacho Corojo or the Chisel.
What makes cigars so great are all the different sizes shapes and flavors that are available. It is a great way to enjoy life one cigar at a time!
The only brand i new when I started was a cheap Macanudo from the local newspaper stand. Now 4 years later I can't enjoy anything but a full bodied maduro.(even with my morning coffee!) When co-workers give me macanudos at work I thank them and give them to people that enjoy them. I just can't enjoy them anymore.
I don't think I ever want to smoke another Swisher Sweet, even if only to remind me of how bad they were. For a flashback to my first "better" cigars, I don't even know if you can get Don Lino panatellas anymore. So, I'll just continue to enjoy what I can get my hands on, be they cheap Perdomos, or pricey Triple Maduros.
I tried many cigars always thinking "How can anyone smoke these". Then a friend of mine gave me a H. Upmann Tubos Major Coronas. So one day I poured myself a cognac and thought, what the hell I light this baby up and see if its any good. To this day, that has got to be the best cigar I ever smoked, because it was the first I truely enjoyed. I know it really wasn't all that good but the first you like is special. Sort of like your first "make out friend".
