Hi All

I have some cigars that are in the metal tubes w lids - I have been storing them in their tubes - in my best humidor - a carefully swiped tupperware from my mom - they have been perfect everytime I smoke one - and no metal taste etc

I was thinking of moving them to my new Davidoff fancy shmancy humidor - but curious - do you guys take them out of the sleeves? out of the plastic wrappers?

i have heard many theories -curious what you all say

Thanks Steve - I hadnt seen one about the tubes - right now I have them in their tupperware... and they seem to stay ready to smoke - a year plus later - wasnt sure about adding them into the humidor as is or not.

Hey MJ.... How's Peter?  [Sorry, I'm a Spiderman fan.  Even tried to get my wife to let me name my daughter Mary-Jane, as my last name is Watson.  Now if you'll just respond with "face it Tiger... you just hit the jackpot!"  my geekfest will be complete!]  ; )

Regarding your topic... Steve hit it on the head.

Watson! The game is afoot!

I have been storing the tubes with their caps on - so I will take them off -  I have both in my humidor - cellophane on - cellophane off - but hadnt put the kids in the tubes in their yet.

As much money as I have spent on humidors - the one that never fails me is this one tupperware container - of course my mom keeps wondering why I havent returned it yet ......

Holmes!  lol!

Tupperware makes a great make-shift humidor as long as you air it out at least once a week and don't let it get overhumidified.  A great combo is tupperware and a Boveda 69% pack [or two] or some humidity beads.  Keeps the humidity balanced and you don't have to check on it too often.

Too funny on the mom thing... ; )

I agree with Steve about leaving the cigars in the tubes with the caps off.  It will help to protect them as will  cellophane.  And cellophane is gas permeable which means that cigar can stay in the cello because moisture will pass through the cellophane.

Plus, as the cigars age, so does the cellophane.  It slowly turns yellow and eventually brown over time.  But that is okay because it is an indication that a cigar is well aged.

Back in the day, I used to take the cello/tubes off but as time went on, it was too much work and as I started trading/shipping, they offered more protection.  I know it's probably OCD but I keep brands together in the humi, except if they are non-cello'd (minus padron - I know - OCD) I keep them in a separate tray.  Tubes - I keep the cap loose but on.  I find that the cedar inserts (especially on RyJ and Cohiba) help promote aging and bloom.  Just my 2 cents.
