convert a bedroom window into one with a dedicated exhaust fan [one that will not be removed seasonally].
um... my only suggestion would be invite me when you finish it!
If you really want it insulated, you are going to have to install in-duct air purifiers to make sure the smell doesn't get into all the other parts of the house.

I would not humidify the room itself as you want to keep your cigars away from the smoke/smell of the ones you are enjoying. Instead build or buy a wall/large humidor.

I also like Arturo's suggestion of using a fan to push the smoke out. If this is too expensive/inconvenient (it will add substantially to your heating/cooling cost because you will be pushing out warm air in the winter and cool air in the summer) there are always stand-alone smoke-eaters/air purifiers which should not be too expensive.

Hope it helps.

I just finished my basement smoking lounge. I placed a high speed, low noise ducted fan into the ceiling and when it comes on, a valve opens, another closes, taking return air in my furnace from outside, thus not allowing the smoke to go thru the furnace.

The smoke from two people smoking in my basement goes no place but outside, no need for filtration or fans in the window. My wife says she has no idea I am smoking in the basement with this configuration.
thanks so much for the suggestions. I am going to research all the options. I am hoping to have this done in the next couple of weeks. It's not going to be anything fancy, but it will meet a serious need! Keep the ideas coming!!!
a few chesterfeilds button backs, indian statue, pinball machine and a fridge full of cold ones.
The DIY network has a show called Man Caves on. They recently did an episode where they converted a guy's basement into a Smoking Room. Here's a link to the video. If links you to a different episode but if you scroll down the videos on the left hand side go to the one marked "Cigar Sanctuary." Could give you some good ideas.

When I eventually have a house of my own, A smoking room's going to be my first project.

I just need some one to come install it for me got any websites?
Squirrel cage blower with baffled air ducts. Then you have to figure out where to vent the air to.
Smokestack, check out this website for ideas and reference.

This guy did an unbelievable job, even down to the ventilation, etc. I think you can get some good ideas and he has some great photos.

My only criticism of this room (It will make sense if you look at the photos) is he built an awesome smoke room but made a glass window in the wall so he could look through to see his TV in the other room. I'm sure the room was not cheap to build so why not buy a small TV for the room.

Oh well good luck I would love to have a smoking room in the house.
I know this is an old thread but...the room in this vid reminded me of a clinic waiting room. I HAVE GOT to have a pool table in my cigar lounge!
Great thread. We are currenly redoing two bedrooms, one of which will be an office / smoking room. Great ideas here, thanks
