A powerhouse of flavors & strength, a beauty to eye & palate.

The Details
Three months ago I was attracted to the beautifully developed double band that adorns My Father Le Bijou 1922. Having smoked about ten or twelve of varying sizes, I’ve come to understand the cigar, it nuances and strengths.

I find the Le Bijou to be a masterful smoke. The construction was good, the burn was not as razor sharp as others, but the favor was outstanding. Given its full Nicaraguan pedigree including a Habano seed Oscuro wrapper, the Le Bijou is stout. As you take an effortless draw, let the smoke sit in your mouth for a moment or two. Upon release, you will be taken by the number of different essences produced within the billowy white smoke, melding in perfect harmony with the rich tobaccos. While the ash remains firm and clean, I tend to detect some flaking at the very outer edges of the ash. As it did not affect the cigar in any way, I moved on.

The cigar is the work of the Garcia family, and the off shoot of the original My Father line. With My Father, the wrapper was of Ecuadorian roots, modified in the Le Bijou to use the Habano seed Oscuro. But the strain of this Habano is called Pelo de Oro; prized for its flavor and strength, yet highly susceptible to disease. Four sizes complete the Le Bijou 1922 line: Churchill, Grand Robusto, Toro and my choice, the Petit Robusto, measuring 4.5 by 50.

If you enjoy a fuller bodied smoke, give the cigar a try; you will not be disappointed. Have your most robust libation join you on this journey as Le Bijou is a game escort.

Get it if: As a seasoned smoker, you live to search out flavors in the heartiest of cigars.

Leave it on the shelf: If your palate has not yet been seasoned to handle a stronger smoke; you simply will not enjoy it.
