Social Cigar

Cigar Social Network

Has any one been ask to remove an avatar photograph because it violated the

rules of Social Cigar? It happened to me recently and I was at first shocked and a little embarassed.

Then I got a bit angry. The main rule seems to be "It's about the cigars"

The picture in question was taken on a hot day and I had no shirt on. I cropped it way up, but there was some of my bare shoulder showing. The picture was definitely about the cigar I was enjoying. Not skin.

I'm 62 years old for petes sake! What did the police think I was doing? So I sat down today and went

through the entire membership. There are both men and women showing a lot more skin than I did and

many are not even smoking a cigar. So what exactly meets the criteria of "inappropriate"?

I'd like your thoughts guys and gals.

WOW!! that sounds pretty strange.Maybe someone was yahkin your chain??
I read the rules. I never in a million years thought I was in violation. This site is supposed to be about cigars and
the fun and enjoyment of smoking cigars. I have never seen one photo on this site that has offended me in the least.
II would like some clarification as to what your avatar means. It looks like half pirate and half women in a dressing gown.
Quite odd.. Do I find it offensive or out of place? Hell no. But I wish the "Rules Police" would show real photos of themselves on their profiles. What do they have to hide? I say, Light up and relax!

I believe I'm one of those "Rules Policemen" and my avatar has always been a photo of myself !

Bradley,

This is a very open website - we let a lot of photo's/video's in that most sites wouldn't. Be that as it may, there are guidelines. One of them being "no shirt, no avatar". It's simple and easy to understand. While we do not believe most of the individuals here are of, um, "interesting", character - we have had to deal with way too many in the past to let it go unchecked.

62 or 22, everyone goes by the same rule and it causes a lot less grief. We appreciate your membership and hope the input you bring on cigars, as well as life, is shared with us all - but the rule is set and is not going to change.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to voice them

Thank you.
So why are there avatars on this site of completely shirtless men and woman with bare shoulders and upper
bodies that show no indication of a garment below? I made a list of them, but I don't name names. You better get busy
guys.
I am finished with this discussion. I need a smoke. Cheers

You had to go pretty deep to find them - I just went through the last 15 pages of our newest members and didn't find a single one. Which means you went through a LOT of pages to find those few avatars. Please, feel free to send them my way. We are as fair with our rules as you're going to get and out of 5000+ people you're going to get a few to pass by - especially if they are from the beginning of the site creation.

In the end - A moderator told you not to use the photo that you're speaking of - and if you're not happy with that, then I don't know what to tell you. It's impossible to make everyone happy and the mods do the absolute best they can (please note - they are not paid nor do they work for, or affiliated in any way, with Camacho - it's completely volunteered time away from our friends, family and other activities)

While we enjoy your membership we aren't going to get into a pissing match about this. If you'd like to send me the names of the individuals you found with questionable avatars, please do. If you don't want to do that, I hope we can move on and have more pleasant and uplifting conversations.

Thank you.
LMAO That's what I did when I seen the photo above, LMAO
And that was on a good day !!!!!!!!
Bradley ,
I am the Moderator that politely asked you to read the posting guidelines ,, and to please change your avatar as it did not meet the rules set by said guidelines . I have truly seen some questionable avatars , We do not want our forum turning into http://manuppcigars.ning.com/ , or http://cigarsocial.ning.com/ . I hope you can appreciate that . If you were upset with my decision , I am sorry , but even though we are an open forum , we need to have rules , or it would be complete ' Anarchy " !
As for other members who have questionable avatars , please feel free to forward list to me , I will send them the same message I sent you . Just the other day , I notified a member who was warned about his avatar back in March of 2009 . He changed his avatar within an hour , no question asked .Sometimes things slip through the cracks .
As E3 explained , us Moderators volunteer our time , and we are not on 24 / 7 . We gladly give our time without any thing in return . We truly appreciate your membership , and hope you enjoy your time with us .
Kevin
I forgot to mention that moderators have a " Photo Reset " option . Sooo truly we do not even have to ask . But the moderators being the " Kind , Caring , Polite Police " that we are , we give a warning first . As we want this to be your site .
So that being said , I do not think it is fair for you to refer to us as " Police " .
