this may be a stupid question, but i was wondering if they sell the same variety of cigars in canada as in the usa. i am going in a couple weeks for a wedding, and i dont feel like paying up the arse for cubans (dont know that they are worth all the doe they cost -IMHO) im making sure that the nicaraguan, dominican, etc. brands are just as common up there, and if you know the cost difference from usa. i will obviously be bringing my own stock, but figure since it is march in canada, ill be in a cigar bar most of the time (smoking their selection) instead of smoking my stash, outside. thanks

You can buy Cubans there legally. Suggest you consider talking your favorite smokes with you as Canada is a very high tax country. You can buy some in the tax free duty shop at the airport but do not have a great selection as a good cigar store
Actually part of this post is wrong. You as an American citizen (assuming you are one) can not legally buy Cubans anywhere. Sorry to be the one to inform you of that.
As far as non-cubans go the selections are mostly the same. The prices may be cheaper depending on what state you are visiting. Some states like California and New york have very aggressive taxes while others like Pennsylvania do not. There are no legal channels for Cubans in the US.

Here's a link to the current tax rates by state.

just trying to earn my keep!
He said he going to Canada ??? Doooah !
Hahahahaha
my question was; if they the dominican, and nicaraguan blends that we have in america, are as common in canada. i do NOT wish to pay 30 bucks a stick for cubans while in CANADA, and was curios if anyone new if the selection of NON cubans was similar to the u.s. (as i am more than happy with our non cuban blends). i am aware that you can not purchase cuban cigars in the u.s. -thank you.
Yeah, after I re-read your post I figured I had it backwards. The most popular brands are in Canada, but are generally more pricy there here in the states. The Cuban's aren't terribly more then their counterparts depending on the store. Many Canadian B&M's look for tourists and jack their prices up. In gereral, the srores have the cigars sectioned by Cuban, Dominican, etc.

better?
thanks buddy, so ill be looking at at least 20 bucks american, for most decent smokes?
Sounds about right, depending on what you get. You know they sell french fries with Mayo there too...
When I was last in Canada a Monte 2 was about $30? I want to say a Montecristo White was more.

Your best options, if you dont take enough cigars with you, may be Cuban as they sell considerably more Cubans they might actually have better prices on those.
Bro, the only stupid question is the one that you DON'T ask. How else do we find out about things that we are not familiar with.
