The Champ is trying to avoid a bday staycation...

So I'm trying to decide (with the help of what my finances maybe at that time) where I'm gonna spend at least 2 of those days. I've narrowed it down to 2 places: NYC and Va. Beach. Here's the dilemma: I don't want to pay close to $300 just for a 2-night stay (especially if I hardly spend anytime in the room)...so I'm callin out to my B/SOTLs in those locales to help The Champ out...give me the inside scoop on what hotels could help me stay under that $300 threshold yet will put me in a good spot to check out some things. Once I make a final decision, then I'll ask for info on b&m and places to herf Thursday & Friday night. I want to nail down my travel plans by the end of this week so I can make plans and get it all together...appreciate the input!

I'm guessing he means Thur and Fri, July 23 and 24, since his birthday bash is the next day, the 25th... am I right, Champ?

Unfortunately, I will not be available those days to hang if he comes to NYC - going to a performance of the Bill Murray Experience (my new obsession - the singer is gorgeous and has an amazing voice - look them up on Myspace) on the 23rd, and then leaving town the 24th for Oswego and the Sterling Ren Faire.

@CK...you are incorrect sir...the dates are July 30 and 31. I forgot to put dates down because I just needed some preliminary info.

Well, unfortunately I am out of town those days - won't return to NYC until August 3rd. But if I can find any info on reasonable lodging I will pass it on to you.

I would like to check it out...I'm leaning towards Va. Beach since it's closer to me that I can drive there as oppose to NYC where I would have to take the bus or train and whatnot. I'll still check out whatever info you or any of the other NYers can pass along and maybe it might sway me.

Champ, I was in the other thread you started. July 26 - July 31 is bar exam week, so the NY & NJ hotels should be expensive. Bar Exam Folks should be leaving Thursday AM, unless they are taking 2 state exams (if that's the case, Exam Folks are not leaving until Friday. I'll let ya know if I hear of anything.

Yeah I posted this on my Sidekick and it posted it twice and since someone responded to one of them I didn't want to delete it. I figured hotels up there would be pricey...I'm leaning towards Va. Beach but unless ya'll can find something reasonable I may lean towards the Big Apple.

Certainly understandable if you opt for Va. Beach. I'm still hoping we can do sort of reciprocal herfs, i.e., a bunch of us NYers join you at Bailey's at the end of one month, then some of you DCers come up to Merchants or Cigar Inn another month. So there will be opportunities galore for you to head to the Big Apple, and a warm welcome when you do come, I am sure!
