Well, my wife and I had an evening planned with a work friend and her girlfriend. Nothing big, going to a bar along the Ohio River and have a bite to eat and a few drinks, and yes cigars! Well my wife called around noon to tell me she needs me to give blood at the local blood drive. She is a school nurse and she volunteered me, because well, I'm the husband and do what she asks. HA.

Well two things are going to happen, me giving blood and going for drinks. Needless to say, I'll be a two drink bitch and she will probably drive me home.

Has anyone given blood and drank a few hours after? I don't mind getting buzzed, but I sure don't want to be totally hungover after a couple drinks.

Say prayers my friends.

I have - in fact I gave blood around 2ish and was drinking beer at 5:30.......... and, like you mention, after 2 drinks I was finished. :)
Just pound down a glass of water between beers/drinks. You'll be fine. Trust me. I'm not a doctor.

Sweet, I think some Guinness is in order. Maybe I won't feel to bad in the a.m..
Enjoy being a cheap date.

That's going to be pretty brutal. Make sure to drink water all night or you could end up severely dehydrated.
Well, I'm home. I drank several Guinness, no water. I will give an update at to how my head pounds!
I made it out ok, no hangover! I had to work daylight, got up around 5 am, and start at 6, definitely tired, but no hangover! Guinness always comes through for me! So, the lesson learned is, you can drink after you give blood, now go out and donate a pint to help someone!
If it is Guinness Draught, I can drink as much as my belly can hold, and never have a hangover.
I used to work in an Irish Pub. We were encouraged to drink on the job, and the boss paid the tab. In one 8 hour shift, I put down, on average 16 Imperial Pints of Guinness. I stayed at that job for 2 years after I graduated college, and then only because the student loan folks were getting rude. LOL

P.S. For those that don't know an Imperial pint is 20 Imperial ozs which is a total of 568ml. By comparison, an american pint, is 473ml
