Kind of a somber anniversary today--45 years ago JFK was assassinated. Growing up I remember adults telling each other where they were and what they were doing at the time it happened. Never understood that until I found myself very vividly remembering details of the day that President Reagan was shot..

On a lighter note you duffers will appreciate, my Uncle Bud had the best Novemebr 22, 1963 story of anyone I know. Cincy had unseasonably nice weather so he was on the links and managed to hit the only hole-in-one of his life. He had no idea what was happening in Dallas until he came into the clubhouse to whoop it up. Naturally people weren't interested in the round of drinks Bud offered to buy!

Anyhow, what are we smokin' today? If I had a panatela-sized Cuban that would be the perfect tribute to JFK, since he horded thousands of them before signing off on the embargo, but alas I will have to make do with Olivas of various kinds, in bigger sizes that Kennedy preferred.

I just finished off a Chateau Real ~ Belicoso Favorita, gifted me by Harry at Churchill's & Down... What a nice morning smoke... Since I drove to Downtown today, I think I'll stop in at TESA Cigar Co. and try some of their 'own'...

Brian D,I to remember my parents and extended family talking about that terrible day in our nation's history. I will be throwing a flame to a couple of favorites today. Will start with a Oliva G Series. Mid-day smoke will be AF Don Carlos #2, and the day will end with an Onyx.

I'm going to a Perdomo event today so I figure at least two smokes will be Perdomo then maybe later if I decide to go to a bar I can light up a Serie V Churchill Extra!

-Finished the day with a Camacho Corojo Robusto

Haven't quite decided whether I will smoke anything today, but if I do it may be that Illusione Jimbob gifted to me.

Then there's the question of where to go... I've been meaning to go back to Merchants since I went there several weeks back with Sandi and Herbie... or I could go to Hudson again, which was really hopping last night (and I haven't been there much lately)... probably not to Velvet, since the new girl is kind of a snob (maybe she'll loosen up once she realizes she doesn't have to impress us with her stories of how incredible she is)... or maybe I should go see the Sinatra impersonation show at Carnegie Club since I've never been... or I could go to Club Macanudo and have dinner, etc.

My connection to the Kennedy anniversary is pretty rich. First of all, as a kid I was a big Lincoln fan, so I got into all the connections between the Lincoln and Kennedy assassinations (Lincoln's press secretary was named Kennedy, while Kennedy's press secretary was named Lincoln, etc.). Secondly, one of my favorite tv shows, Dr. Who, premiered in the UK the day after, 11/23/63, so it kind of got lost in all the press over that terrible event. And so forth.

I was at home recovering from the flu. My mom watch watching As The World Turns when they broke in with the news. It is one of those memories that stick with you even after 45 years. So in honor of JFK I will light up a few stogies today in his honor.

Last night, I smoked a Greycliff 1666 and chased it with a Torano Exodus Silver. Tonight, I'll smoke a more modest cigar, Like a Willy that I picked up last night.

I'm eager to smoke the Arganese ML3 that Gene hooked me up with, but I think it will need a little humi time to shake off being out in the dry air most of the evening.

You wait, MMK, I grabbed an extra, so that you, too, can wrap your lips around a Willy. I got the maduros, because I know you like it like that.

Drew Estate Egg maduro.

Actually a really good smoke despite it's comical shape. Full bodied with very heavy cocoa and cinnamon flavors throughout. I'll buy another one. (^_^ )
