Cigar Social Network

I have to give a really big shout out to my friend and favorite Tobacconist Micah and The Party Source!

A while back I started to realize how much I was missing when blindly placing my usual weekly cigar purchases at some of the more notable online establishments. Though I know they have a place and don't regret the purchase's or the service they provided, I felt like something in the overall experience was missing.

Through this site I was fortunate enough to have met Micah and learned really quickly what it was I was missing. Not only is Micah a really personable and friendly guy, but he also knows his stuff when it comes to cigars! I quickly realized my cigar purchases were more than just about finding the best price, or latest deal, but about expanding my horizons and trying different smokes. This in part was Micah's doing with some of the different samples he would from time to time add to my weekly purchases.

Having said all that I guess the best way to sum it all up is to say we (Micah and myself) have established a relationship, don't worry Kim not one like the two of you have! ;-) I trust his opinions, when it comes to cigars and almost 100% of the time agree with what he suggests as something I would like.

A little over a month or so I came up with an idea and sent Micah an email. I like surprises and was getting bored (or just lazy) deciding what smokes I wanted for my weekly orders. In the email I told Micah "Surprise Me"! I have $160.00 I want to spend before shipping. Put me together a package but don't tell me what you are sending, I want it to be a surprise! And thus the journey begins!

I wish I had taken pictures, good pictures of the first package of what is now at #4 and counting, but all I can tell you is every package he has sent has been awesome! Here is a pic of Surprise Package #4...

Surprise Pack #3

Surprise Pack #2

Sorry about the quality of some of the photos, gotta get a better phone/camera!  As you can see awesome packages put together by my favorite Tobacconist!  I know I have had a blast in doing this and have tried some really great smokes that I may not have ever thought to order. So if you are fortunate enough to have a tobacconist that you trust I suggest you give them an opportunity to help broaden your horizons a bit. Hell who doesn't like a "Surprise" every now and then.

If you don't have a tobacconist you trust, give Micah a call at TPS...you will be glad you did! (Sorry Micah if this increases your workload! ;-) )

I couldn't have said it better myself Joe....Micah and The Party Source !

I never disliked any of his suggestions....he knows my preferences!

It's been a while since I’ve made my weekly call to Micah. My last phone order with Micah was in early 2010, I did drop some cash with TPS during the 1st CincyTucky Herf. At the time I stopped ordering from TPS I had to make a choice whether to spend my bucks locally so I could have a B&M and club to smoke at during the cold Chicago winter and bad weather days. The club I belong to has this deal; if you spend on average $250 a month there, then you’re a member for a month. At first I thought and I bet you feel that $250 a month is a rip-off to belong to a BYOB smoking club and B&M owned by the same people. If the $250 was strictly a cash transaction for membership I would agree, however the $250 goes towards cigars.
Keep in mind you don’t have to purchase $250 at once but you do during the first month; after that all your purchases are tracked electronically and added as you go but you have to do the $250 a month in purchases. You could also go in one day spend $1000 on cigars and accessories and you’re now a four month member
Now divide the $250 a month by 30 days, it comes out to about $8.40 a day. On a typical day I smoke 3-4 cigars and then one day I may only smoke 2 and another day I smoke 5-6.
I go through many more at a Herf; for example CincyTucky, Nebraska and Hooserville, Indiana. I go through at least a box or more in three days when I go to a Herf, keeping in mind that box includes sharing with fellow Herfer’s, round trip travel time by ground not air from Chicago to wherever; I give Several Huge Thank you’s !! to Mark M. Kasper aka-MMK~ for driving or I wouldn’t be able to go due to health issues and driving long distance..

I also need a place to stash all my cigars, I own a large amount of cigars and I'm probably a member of this club for several years now. The club allows me to store as many cigars as I want in their humidor securely locked in a large cabinet which is 20-30 minutes from home. The owners also provided me with a small locker at their B&M which10-15 minutes from home.
After reading JoeEd’s opening comments to this thread and knowing I’m a member at a club or B&M for several years I’ll be talking to Micah this week. When I use to purchase almost exclusively from TPS I was never disappointed. I was always given great advice, friendly conversation, I was never pushed to purchase anything like a “Micah’s Daily Deal”, I was always given great advice. I’m also very fortunate to live in a shipping zone where I usually found my TPS order at the door the day. I’ve also purchased accessories including a few XIKAR Lighters, Punches, a humidor, juice for my humidifiers, and much, much more.
Joe you are correct when you said “Through this site I was fortunate enough to have met Micah and learned really quickly what it was I was missing.”

Micah I’m going to call you on Monday, give you a dollar amount and ask for you to pick out an assortment for me. We’ll talk more on the phone; if I recall your days off are Thursday and Sunday. Tuesday afternoon you’re extremely busy getting ready for the evenings events. Typically if I call my order in before 11:00 Eastern Time the order will ship the same day 90% of the time.
dang "Book by Loomis!" ;-)
Micah and the PS crew are great. I've been away for the past 90 days or so moving the family to Portland and the first call I made today was to Micah to restock some sticks. Thanks Micah!

"Micah, Micah, Micah!" Guys you're going to make Jan--uh, I mean Kevin--from Party Source jealous. Let's also give a shout out to Mike, Carroll, Josh, and humi-newbie John while we're at it.

After all it was Kevin who drew my raffle ticket for that fancy Xikar lighter/cutter last week, which stopped me from asking 'Did I win?' for a few hours.

Hmm, two of the PS humi crew are named Mike and Carroll, just like the parents on the Brady Bunch. Prob'ly just a coincidence.

Surprise Package #5 Awesome, truely Awesome!
