mmk ~ replied to mmk ~'s discussion Official Press Release - Bold Is Back With A VengeanceLet me start of by saying I am one lazy SOB. This is why I have lighters located all over my house and outside. Over the past several weeks I have had some of my cheaper lighters break or simply not work any more. My Black Ops and Colibri lighters have simply given out. My tried and true performer has been my Xikar Exodus Crossover. Have you guys had any other steady performers when it comes to lighters?

My go-to lighter is whatever is in my pocket at the time.

Permalink Reply by Kalutika, the ever living! on August 19, 2012 at 6:04pm I'm too lazy, cheap and poor to buy new butane, but my usual lighter is a cheap gas station torch with a single flame.
Permalink Reply by Wild on August 22, 2012 at 1:25am I picked up several Vector Hammers a couple of years ago and they're the only ones I can count on lately.
Vector Urbano Triple Torch has worked well for me so far.

Would like to pick up another lighter though. Looking foward to any other recomendations out there.

Permalink Reply by Loomis™ on September 11, 2012 at 11:05pm I have a sack full of lighters. I take very good care of them but it always seems that whichever one I grab from the sack is out of fuel, the jet's are dirty, the light has air in the fuel chamber.
I guess mt go to lighter is the one any of my friend has when I'm with them.

Permalink Reply by Limey B'stard on September 14, 2012 at 8:06pm Dear Sir,
Lighters are the bane of my very existence, I thought I had it licked when Zippo came out with their Blu lighter. Apparently I got the only one that didn't work. I sent it back, they sent it back to me. Same problem. I thought I would drop a fortune on an S.T.Dupont Gatsby, why???? Very expensive, very expensive to re-fill, very average and that fancy ping, on mine the screw in the lid backs out even with loc-tite. Xikar, they make the best cutters on the planet, I mean that, but their lighters, meh!
The only lighter that has been close to reliable is a desktop Rocky Patel (china giveaway special) torch given to me free at a RP event in DE with a box purchase. Unfortunately too large for every day carry.
My EDC lighter is a mini bic. They suck at lighting cigars but they are reliable and really cheap.
I have an expensive watch that I love, I have an expensive flashlight that I love, I have, well you get the picture. I value my every day carry. I only wish somebody would make a lighter that was nice to touch nice to hold nice to look at and most importantly capable of lighting a cigar properly.
Good luck in your search. Please let me know if you find my holy grail!
Permalink Reply by Brian D. on September 17, 2012 at 1:11pm Nah Limey, there's at least one Zippo Blu in my area that's...well, it works, but maybe the 'Z' should be for 'zany'. Not mine, but belongs to a tobacconist pal, it's an early production. Thing does light most of the time, but at what level the flame will be at is anybody's guess, from one flick to the next. Kind of amusing, but would be much less so if the guy had any facial hair growth.
