Last week my hygrometer plunged down to 50 and since then, after buying a digital and charging the brick, it reads 51… I know it might take some more time to come back up since there are 40+ cigars in there but anyway - I’m worried about my collection, I can feel the difference in texture already.

I have seen shops that use (what looks like) household room humidifiers.

Should I try this in the room where my humidor is kept to help stabilize the humidity levels in there?

If so, should I use distilled water in the humidifier?

I have had the humidor for about 2 years now... it has never given me any problems in the past.

It is full of cigars now, so I cant exactly remove them and try to start over unless i buy a new one- any ideas?
Go out and buy yourself a couple large Fuente Bags, they come with a boveda style humidifier bag in them. Put your cigars in the bag and let them stay, it will be ok for a few months at least.

Next re-season your humidor, check for leaks by placing a dollar bill half way in, and move the bill around, if it moves freely you are having some seal problems, maybe they will clear up after seasoning? In either case its the humidor, something has gone wrong, maybe it dropped too far and can not get back up until it is seasoned again.
Thanks to all for the input.

where can I find Fuente Bags? online? (note, not many cigar shops in the area)

my humidor was given to me as a gift (by my EX) - I have been told that the types with glass tops and built in hygrometers are the ones to stay away from... should i just chuck it and start over?
*Bump*

Where can I get one of these Fuente Bags?

Maybe I should just get a new humidor, season it, and start from there?

They have all three sizes of the bags.
I have both the extra large brick in my humidor and one of the gel canisters... do you think one of the ZipLock Big Bags would do the trick?
Thanks Ross
I was also told by the guys at the cigar outlet in CT to try slipping a dollar bill out from the seal whit the box closed... i can pull it through...

anyone hear of this trick?
Thats what the guy told me.... i can do it, but i'm thinking the seal might get tighter after i treat the box
OK,

Well all 50 (yeah, what a nice round number) sticks are now in the jumbo ziplock, Thanks Ross for the pointers!!

The digi hygrometer has started going up!

Now that the smokes are out of the hell box I got a fresh sponge and some distilled water to give the wood a little bath... I should have done this long ago, the box drank up the entire sponge...

I will keep you posted! thanks to all who have helped so far!
