Last week my son borrowed my truck to help a friend of his move . I've known her for quite a long time , so it  was my pleasure to be of assistance . So today at my sons house watching the Super Bowl , she gives me a 50 count humidor as a Thank You . She said that the humidor was buried in her closet for the last 10 years . This humidor is in great shape . I open up the humi , and there are about 15 cigars in it . Some La Unica's , Some Indian Tabac's , and some Mendez Y Lopez . She say's they have been in there the whole time .  These cigars seem to be in good shape . The cello's on these things are so friggin yellow , it amazes me .
So here is my question ?  Are these cigars any good anymore ? Are they able to be rehumidified . Can I bring these little gems back to life ? Is it worth it ? Or should I just toss them in the trash ( what a shame ) ?

Very slow re-humidification. How do they feel? I am assuming that they are dry as hell.
Man thats a tuffy, but just me saying this I would toss them and enjoy your new humi !
10 years with no humi - I wouldn't smoke those things for anything. They're dead, throw them away, enjoy the humi.
Kev... I'm in the process of doing the same thing. Bunch of old stogies gifted to me when a co-workers hubby passed and she went through his stuff. Same deal... very yellow cello. Cigars seem to be in decent shape including a couple that are tubed. I am slowly adding humidity to them [my plan is over a 6 month period]. If they suck in the end, it was a nice project! [But maybe they won't suck!].
A project is always fun. Just trying out stuff like this is how I got into brewing and some of my favorite hobbies.
I think I'm going to take on a project . If it work's great , if not WTF !!!
I'm going to set up the humi in the next couple of days .
Then try to revivie the cigars .
I say smoke them! What's the worse that can happen, you get a bad one? I had some Hamilton reserves I got a few years back. they must have been in the way back of the where house. The wrappers we so yellow it reminded me of an Englishman's tooth. But, some of them also had bloom! Regardless of how good it was or wasn't before, it was a damn fine smoke!
Smoke one of them, if you find the taste agreeable then smoke the rest. if you don't pitch them.

You'll get a plethora of answers here but in actuallity thats the only real answer. We have no idea what the humidty was in that closet and thus no idea what it was in the humidor. We have no idea how well it was sealed and how long. Just smoke one and see what happens.

If a cigar is totally dead, no amount of humidification over any period will help it. Putting the humidity back in the cigar does not magically regenerate the oils that the leaves held before they were dried. And its those oils and the chemical balences they had that give yoru cigars flavors. Once they are gone, they are gone.

Also yellow cello is not an indication of somethign bad. Just of age.
