We have just been told that starting next month there will be no smoking in the Surfside area and I can not get my head around this. The west coast has been dealing with this issue for a long time now, I don't agree with it there either. Many of my friends own bars and restaurants and today they all called me to tell me they might have to shut down. South Carolina is a blue collar state with many of our residents as smokers, how do you on that coast deal with it and have your cigar clubs got even more popular.

Tony,

Unfortunately you’re right. I am very politically active in my community of SD, and yes we can no longer smoke on our beaches, in our harbor and not even on some smoking patios.

It is disgusting... Your cigarette smoker will continue, the cigar smoker will for the most part respect the ban and we're not the problem. I actually spoke at our council meeting when this was up for vote. Since they kept bringing up the TRASH issue and butts left around. I asked specifically "Did you find cigar butts?" All they showed was large pictures of trash bags. The coalition for the clean ups had their 120 cleaner uppers in the audience and the leader responded by asking the actual people doing the work how many cigar butts they found. The answer. Not one.

At he same time three of the council members are my customers and personal friends. They all voted NO on the ban while holding cigars I had given them prior to the meeting. The pic was in the local paper. The vote needless to say went through, but not before we went to the steps of city hall and lit up immediately after the meeting. When you come to San Diego, and visit me, you can smoke in my store and I have turned my backyard into Tahiti so it’s a great place to smoke, enjoy a cocktail. Just make sure you bring your putter.

Remember if you need a caddie on any of your exotic trips, I’m available.

Hugs,
DeeDee

I love Tahiti if the dollar was equal to that of Mexico I would retire there instead, Islands are so cool. As far as the smoking ban you need to think about investing in an addition to your business and open a members club, in SD I'm sure you would sell out. Cigar smokers never toss their butts, we have respect for the art and always give them a proper burial. Two things I never leave home without is my AMX and my putter, if I have to I'll buy another seat on the plane for her.
