Dee Dee, thanks for starting this forum. I have always had a lot more lady friends than guy friends, usually by a ratio of about 5 to one or more. So I am overjoyed to make lady friends who share my love of cigars, since I just don't feel like I belong with the old boy's group who is going to make snide remarks about women and reduce them all to the size of their t's and a's.

And someone like you I am sure can teach me some things about cigars that I don't already know! So I look forward to reading the postings in this forum, and will be happy to put my two cents in when appropriate.

I thought it was cool, for example, to read about that ladies would get into buying cigar accessories in colors and styles that would fit with their wardrobes, etc. Honestly, that would appeal to me - the current ugly black and brown cigar cases, etc. just don't do anything for me. I usually carry my cigars around in ziplocs, but that seems clunky to me also - have to come up with a creative way to keep my cigars close at hand for when I need them! Any ideas?

I have voted! And compliments on your page here! Who is lovely lady in the photograph?

And I will check out your blog again soon. And hopefully write some responses if I can find the time.

Going to Lord & Taylor today to look at a man purse and some pants - wouldn't it be cool if the high-end department stores sold cigar accessories, for both men and women?

Karl, I am so excited that you joined us and are interested knowing what's going on in the female curcut. It is truly is different. I love cigars for so many different reasons. I smoke while golfing or in my car well, I guess when I'm in my store, and in the backyard, playing pool in the house, okay I love my cigars! I think it is not only cool to suround yourself with women but SMART, Do many of them smoke right now or is it in the game plan????

Hugs from So Cal,
DeeDee

Thanks for your questions, Dee Dee. The long answer would need to be a blog entry or something along those lines (it's a looooong story). The short answer is I don't have any lady friends who are into cigars. The women I date all tend to be non-smokers, although I have introduced a couple of them to cigars with more positive than negative results. Of lady who are simply friends, there was one who is from Philadelphia who is really into cigars, but she eventually got a boyfriend and has now disappeared - maybe she thought I was wanting to date her, even though I never made overtures in that direction.

I wish I could definitively say that it is in the game plan - but that's a matter of chance somewhat. That is not a high priority for the ladies I date, but I keep my fingers crossed that I might get lucky, you know? Honestly, though, I could go in the other direction - i.e., meet someone who's a non-smoker, settle down and give up the stogies myself. It could happen.

Hey Karl,

You always have your fellow NYer as a lady friend who smokes cigars. The bf I have is a drag sometimes when I bring him to events, but we can still be cigar buddies...8 )

THANKS, Sandi. I am happy to be your cigar buddy. Does "the bf" partake as well? Let's bring that boy in from the cold! There's still so much healing to be done and understanding to be spread in the "battle between the sexes" - and if some of that can be done with a tasty cigar in hand, I'm all for it.

I tried to get the bf to really really get into cigars, but I'm having no luck. He smokes cigarettes and will smoke a CAO Maduro or Acid cigar once in a while. I'm trying to get him more involved in the cigar events, but it's a struggle...lol..it's worse than dragging my mom to events. 8 (

Yeah, that process of conversion is tricky, Sandi. I once spoke with a very openminded gal - I met her at Hudson B&B where she was hanging with her new bf. He was teaching her to smoke roll-your-own cigs, and late in the evening she took a couple nice puffs from my La Gloria Cubana Serie R #6. Her take on cigars v. cigarettes is that the buzz for the former is in your mouth, while the latter is in your chest. I think a lot of cig smokers miss the buzz of inhaling when they smoke cigars - which is why some of them smoke machine-made or mild handmade cigars, so they can continue inhaling. And cigars take so long to smoke, which tries cig smokers patience. Well, at least at Hudson you could bring him along and he can smoke cigs if he wants...
