Come on guys, I have been fishing for all my life and every Pond, Lake, Bay, and Ocean I have ever fished there has always been the one that got away story or the you should of seen this story, I want to hear more great stories like that.
well this is along those lines....
after a day on the lake my best friend and I were unloading the boat in his drive way, I just took out a few rods one of which had a big double treble hook topwater plug tied to it.
Rachel my friends 80 pound choclate lab came out to vist us and was doing what dogs do, and was sniffing everything and was just all around happy to see us.
Well I hear a yelp and then a snap. Rachel ended up sniffing the plug and it hooked her nose, and then she proceeded to run off and thats when the line broke.
My friend and I snap into action and corner the lab in the garage. I was holding her body down(not a easy task) and my friend assesses the situation.
Rachel had a treble thru the soft part of her nose and one caught in her face. My friend calmly removes the treble in her face, so its now its dangling free. Then he tells me to "hold her good" as he is now gonna work on the nose hook.
Well he gently trys to move the nose hook and she starts to shake her head and the next thing I know is now my buddy is hooked deep ,too the once free treble hook..
My friend screams for his wife to render assistance, and in a flash the next door neighbor appears. He was familiar with the garage and where the cutters were located and quickly cut the hook off the lure and then was able to cut the hook from the labs nose. my friend popped the barb thru and removed the hook from his finger and his wife took the dog to the vet.
wow this all happend in like a minute and I learned to not put rods on the ground where there are dogs sniffing and the lab dosent come visit till the boat is put away.
That was great the way you guys kept your wits about you and knew what to do, most people would have freaked out. Was the dog's nose damaged for good or can she still smell right. Great story, now we need to get more people involved, keep up the good work.
I had a report from a guide out of NC that told me that the cold weather has made it very difficult to get fish to hit on Lake Norman this month. I was planning to hit that spot next weekend, anyone else finding the same conditions.
