The announcement that Orvis is opening a new store here in Myrtle Beach excites me, they will be located at the new Market Common area and I toured the building this morning and it will be great. I have been looking to get into salt water fly fishing and I look forward to getting in there and and grabbing up the full line of gear. I want to buy a fly tying rig and try my hand at the hobby, does anyone in our small group use flies and if so what works best for you.

I used to tie my own when I was younger. but now I pretty much fish for bass.
I think fishing for trout and tying flies has helped me.

Well the fastest growing aspect of fly fishing is the Bass and Crappie sector, Orvis now makes some real attraction style flies for Bass. I catch huge spawning/hatching females on my fly rod and after you fight one like that you'll never go back.
I now have a great connection at Orvis and if you need anything let me know.
