Hey Fishing Folks,

I've always wanted to go deep sea fishing, but I have no where to fish or no one to go fishing with (and I don't know the first thing about deep sea fishing.) I have this vision of catching a marlin so I can have my picture taken and then hang the marlin in my mom's living room.

I know there are plenty of places to go deep sea fishing in FL, but do I have to go so far??

Suggestions greatly appreciated.

You may want to start a little lower on the food chain then hitting the Marlin first, that is one big fishy and he don't play, average fight time is more than an hour. NYC has some great charters running for striper, you can try Ocean City NJ for some great bill fish action first before moving up to the king of the deep blue. If and when you are ready for a major fight my suggestion is the southern tip of Mexico, they have the largest concentration of Black Marlin in the world but be ready to shell out a cool $2000 for the chance.

Didn't realize marlins were big game fish. I was under the impression I could just go deep sea fishing. I'll check out Ocean City when it gets warmer.

Can't remember what else I had said, but that's basically it.

Marlin is the king of all big game fish, reaching amazing wieghts and the Blk. Marlin is the King of Kings. First you must learn and understand what it takes to fight a fish before setting out after that beast. Some people will tell you, oh thats not true I once went on a fishing charter and my first time out I landed a Marlin. To that I say bull, the boat captian caught a marlin along with anyone else that was helping them.

if that is the case then just use your photo shop software, make a picture, and save yourself a grand.

that is real impressive and I mean the fishing not the nail art. In your neck of the woods you have some of the greatest trout and salmon fishing in the country, I say cut those nails off and grab a fly rod for the summer. A cigar women is great but a cigar women with a fly rod is just straight out greatness.

wait...I have to learn something yet again....don't you think law school and the bar exam have tortured me enough????

I'll look into Ocean City NJ to see what's available there. I had a friend that went fishing off the Jersey Shore (I think), but I didn't ask any info about where he was going.
