I know. My local shop made a big order before our state tax went into affect on the 1st and is going to keep cigars at pre-tax prices until he flips his current inventory.

With the cigar tax increasing a such a rate, your favorite box of smokes will be signifigantly more expensive.

I was just involved in the fight against higher cigar taxes in Arkansas. It is completely unfair the amount of tax I have to pay on a cigar through the state only to be slapped again in 30 days with the SCHIP tax.

More of us need to be concerned and actively involved in fighting for what we want. We cant be idle and allow others to effect our lives without a fight. Tell those you know about this site, this group. Dont think someone else is going to do anything for you.

Call, write, fax, or drop by your congressional representatives office's and tell them it is not acceptable, that you can't support a growing program with a shrinking tax base and that you vote and you will make sure you and every one that you can get to listen you to vote for someone else the next go 'round if they vote in favor of SCHIP.

Someone else on Social Cigar has said in the past (I'm paraphrasing), and it is absolutely true, don't think what is my one voice going to accomplish? Think of your voice as part of the chorus of other doing the same thing. Join the chorus and we can fight this.

What can we do to see that SCHIP does not add a tax to our cigars?
