Will Camacho make more of the original Scorpions, or will they make a new look for the cigar? I really wish they'd make the originals. Those babies are cool!

What about the blend? Will it change or stay the same?

Here is some info posted on the Doc Stogie Fresh site about the Camacho Scorpion...also some pics of the new packaging..

Early in 2004, Christian Eiroa, in conjunction with a private cigar club from North Carolina, decided to make a cigar that would age in the Camacho factory for over a year. Camacho President Eiroa would then open and smoke these cigars a year later. Christian did smoke them, during Christmas dinner in 2005 and he decided that he liked this new cigar.

The new cigar was named the Camacho Scorpion and Camacho produced just over 12,000 of them. The private group received around 300 cigars and Camacho kept the rest because Christian liked the cigar and wanted to experiment with the concept of super-aging cigars prior to distribution.

Christian decided to continue the aging program by setting aside around 3,000 cigars each year. The cigars have been met, thus far, with rave reviews!

I recently heard about these cigars when I visited the Camacho factory in Honduras in January of 2007. Christian told us the story of the cigars, but wasn’t real clear about when, or if, they might hit the marketplace.

During that trip, I met quite a few retailers from throughout the country, one of whom was Sean Parkinson, owner of Shades of Havana Cigars in Peoria, Arizona.

Cut to today…

Since that Honduran trip, only two retailers across the country have received this new cigar; Shades of Havana is one of the two.

This special cigar is called the Camacho Scorpion. It’s similar to the Camacho Diploma and 11/18 “Limited” blends in that it uses tobacco from the upper primings of the plant. But what really makes this cigar special is that it has been aging in his factory for over 4 YEARS! The extra age on these cigars makes for an incredible smoke. These are quintessential Camacho Corojo’s: full bodied and yet, because of the aging, very refined.

Sean has contacted me so that I could let my Stogie Fresh readers know that he has the cigars in stock and ready to ship. If you purchase a box, you will receive a 20% discount. A second box will net you 25% and on a third box, 30%!

They have plenty in stock now however the supply is still limited long term.

Chrisian was there for an event recently and announced that he had more Scorpions made but it will take several years of ageing before they are ready for market.

I have heard that they will introduce the size into the Diploma line.....but the blend will likely not be the same.

Hava Cigar Shop and Lounge has one box (18) of the originals left.
