With the DNC in full swing and Barack has Joe Biden selected as his running mate ~ What is your feelings on the choice for VP?

Joe Biden, IMHO, is a great choice for America and as Obama's running mate. Joe Biden brings a lot of knowledge to the ticket. I could go on, but I may sound like a CNN analyst.

Oh I'm sure you would sound much better than a CNN analyst. Those right-wing hacks are atrocious: for most of the convention last night, before the words were out of the speakers' mouths, they were already criticising the Democrats - "not enough red meat", "the Democrats could be doing more", etc. and the convention still has three more nights to go! If they were commenting on a baseball game, they would be saying the team lost after the first inning!

As for Biden, I agree that he is a very strong choice. Over the last 20 years or so, I can remember hearing Joe Biden saying just the things I would've liked to be able to say regarding many of the crucial events of our time. His one major misstep was not standing up for Anita Hill during the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings. I will be interested to see what sorts of things he has to say during the campaign. He's a person of intelligence and character, which makes him a really good fit for Obama, and he also has some experience that will make him an important ally during the campaign.

Well, at least not too many interested in Democratic politics. I'll be curious to see if anyone gets excited about McCain's show next week.

As I told you, I didn't watch last night and have yet to read the NY Times - curious to see how things went with the Bill and Biden show.

Cigars and politics definitely go way back! And George W. I've heard smokes cigars. Probably when he's hanging out on his ranch, since the White House is non-smoking.

Biden is a great pick for a VP candidate. Biden is a former Chairman of the Senate Judicary Committee and has shown his propensity to elminating crime with his bills to help abused women and put several hundred thousand cops on the streets of his home state with his crime bill. He is the current Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee which shows his vast experience in foreign policy (something that many experts say Obama lacks) particularly when it comes to anti-terrorism. Many Clinton supporters may not agree with the pick but when you look at Biden's credentials and the fact that he's not the elitist-style politician (took the train every night to be home in Delaware to be with his kids). This is a great pick and I think this ticket will take back the White House.
