What are your favorite films? They don't have to be art-house masterpieces - they're just the ones that, whenever they appear on tv, you have to watch them. They're the films that, when they come out in that special edition dvd set, you're the first person to buy a copy from your local video store. And if 10 is not enough (or too much!) don't sweat it. Just let me in on your favorites. I'll tell you mine in the next post...

Golly, Sandi, there are a lot on your list I've never seen! Malcolm X and Philadelphia definitely should be on my list. Did I tell you I heard Spike Lee speak at USF when I was in Tampa? He had some really nice things to say about his relationship with his mom and grandmother and their emphasis on education. And his story on how he got the money to finish Malcolm X is really cool.

Apparently I can't count, but I'm sure there's more..lol Spike Lee's 25th Hour had to grow on me though. I saw the movie by myself and for the life of me I couldn't figure out what everyone was raving about. I bought the DVD and fell in love with the movie.

I also forgot to add Primal Fear, that was Ed Norton's first movie, which he did very well in, if you ask me.

Another one who loves Somewhere in Time? Ah, my heart just skipped a beat!

Hey, in high school we put on "My Fair Lady" as the class play. I played one of Alfie Doolittle's buddies, but I hung around the rehearsals and learned everyone's lines and all the great songs. One of the best things I was involved in, in all my years in school.

And I love Steve McQueen! Great Escape, Hell is for Heroes, The Getaway, Bullitt, Love with the Proper Stranger, Enemy of the People, etc., etc. the coolest cool guy. If I could be half as cool as Steve McQueen, I could die a happy man.

I tried to keep the list down but it was very difficult to say the least. I love musicals. My youngest (foolish) sister said "musical are silly cause people don't burst into a song at the drop of a hat". A few days later I caught her dancing with the broom and singing into it as if it was a mic. Ah ha I shouted.

The movie Somewhere in Time is...timeless. I saw and know how a stray and lingering thought can leave a smile even on the Mona Lisa. It’s a modern day Casablanca with so many intricate subplots. Yes, I’m a romantic at heart.

As for Steven McQueen, yes, he is the original Mr. Cool. Tom C. and company wish they had Steve’s charisma and talent. And allow me to suggest your cooler than the wanna-bes.

See you at the movies….
