Who is having a Perdomo to celebrate the Labor Day weekend? I've got a Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniv. Champagne Epicure on deck. What's everybody else having?
Planned on pairing it with a good lager or with E & J. Any suggestions?
Another new Perdomo sampler I hadn't seen previously... called the Lucky 7, saw it on Best Cigar Blog. Anyone tried it? I've had the Lot 23 and Habano Corojo, but look forward to some of the others.
I'm behind on my posting. This one was from last night, a Perdomo Habano Corojo Toro. Have had them before, but I'm working down my sampler.
This one held a very long ash, it burned down almost to the label and it finally fell off.
Yum! Just had the Cabinet Series 10th Anniversary Maduro. I think it may have been the best of the sampler thus far, I'm working them down. Had a lot of spice and complexity, was a very nice smoke. I really tip my hat to Perdomo, this one is a nice one.
Posted a pic in my smokin' album of the 10th Anniversary Criollo-Natural I had last night. I'll have to buy another one later and give it a second whirl. This one was not what I've come to expect from Perdomo. The ash was loose and flaky and the draw was not good at all. It had a lot of burn issues; I had to relight 3 times and when I got to the last two inches or so, it was like it hit a brick wall or a plug or something-had to abandon it there. Most Criollo reviews I've read are glowing, so I'm going to say I just got a bad one.
Today, when I got to "checking" on my cigars, I realized something was different from the picture. Looks like they pulled a substitution on me, but I guess that has happened to others, too? I was supposed to have got one of the 10th Anniv. that was the Champagne-infused one. I hadn't tried any infused cigars yet, so was a bit disappointed. Instead I'll have to "suffer through" two versions of the Criollo, one in natural and one in Maduro. I'll make it though, I bet. :)
I chose the Cuban Parejo Rothschild in Natural, a 4 3/4 X50. I caught some spice from the get-go and it burned evenly and smooth. It had a few veins but nothing out of the ordinary. The wrapper starting splitting a bit when I got down to around an inch and I called it done. Overall, a very enjoyable smoke...
