Help a (relatively) newbie out, whats good.

Hey peoples, I know there are good scotches and some very tasty bourbons out there, lets keep this group alive so a 22 year old who has only been drinking whiskey for a few years now (yes a few, I have older friends, lol) can benefit from the knowledge of the more experienced and know what not to drink, and what is amazing. I just had myself a Macallan 18yr on the rocks with a Camacho Triple Maduro and thought I was briefly in heaven, what are some other good combos? And please add any general knowledge about whiskey as well I am an information sponge and would love to learn my stuff so I can help out in the future.

I think the real key is to keep trying things. You can't know what might taste well together unless you've tried a great many flavors. Sort of like cooking with spices you've never had. Other then that its right hard to make more of a statement on that unless I have the same tastes as you.

I've had the opportunity to drink quite a few different types of scotch in my fairly short time but my experience in pairing them with cigars is very limited. Asking the experiences of others can often give a good base line for comparison.

I think the best pairing I have had so far was a 1926 Padron with a couple fingers of Glemmorangie Original 10 . though I am sure that the 26 was the star of the show and would have made any scotch I had taste like nectar.
