Cigar Being Reviewed – Malfetano

Made: Malfetano is made by Alec Bradley for Azon Cigars - Made in Honduras

History: Owner Michael Beaudry tried around 40 cigars before he picked this one,“I loved it from start to finish”. The band and box label was a huge project. It took over 30 different proofs before they agreed on the final band/label. The name "Malfetano" is Michael’s great grandmothers last name. She came from Italy and the picture on the band is the town she came from. The color blue in the band was his wife & his favorite color. The process to make the cigars was long but fun, it took almost a year. Michael plan’s on adding a Double Corona. Those will be the four sizes. He also have samples of a CT Shade wrapper and a Corojo wrapper coming and if all goes well that will complete the Malfetano brand. These will be their core cigars for the Malfetano brand. They plan on developing new sticks as they grow. They currently have brokers in over 10 states and are looking to expand to more.

Smoking Time: I smoked this stick after dinner with a nice glass of Amaretto it was a nice 45 Minute smoke

Packaging: Beautiful presentation box, Red wood color with great art.

Pre-Smoke: The band was very nicely done graphics, it mad the cigar very desirable. The wrapper has a brown color with a smooth feel to it, has a slight hint of cedar smell. A very nicely constructed cigar.

The Burn: The cigar gave great smoke & burned slowly and evenly, I had no burn issues with this cigar., it had a very easy draw with a nice light grey ash. The ash held on for a good two inch’s before falling off.

Cigar Flavor: I got a faint hint of wood, vanilla & spice throughout this cigar, very good mix of flavors. I smoked this stick right down to the finger and it was great all the way with a little more spice at the end. Great Mild Cigar.

Value: The Robusto retails for $7.70, the Belicoso retails for $8.30, the Corona $6.90.. I think this is a very reasonable price for this great cigar.

My Final View: This Malfetano cigar is a very good cigar. This is a great anytime smoke I really liked allot. I suggest this cigar to all of you who want a all around great smoke that you can’t go wrong with. I will definitely contact Michael to order a few for my collection. Great job Mike.

Smoking Time: 1 Hour

Pre-Smoke – I tested a Toro: A Nice looking cigar.
The band was a little plan, black with gold lettering
Wrapped in a nice Brown leaf, very tight with a couple prominent veins. This cigar had a sweet sent to the wrapper.

The Burn - The burn was even with a solid white tight ash and a clean draw. The smoke was very satisfying with good white smoke great burning flavor and smell. The only complaint was that I had to relight half way through because it died.

Cigar Flavor - I would consider this a mild smoke with the start of this cigar offering a cedar flavor and changing to more of an earthy tone before returning to its first flavor. The transission was nice.

Value - I have not seen these cigars at any of our local shops or lounges but according to the various web sites it falls between the $3.00 to $7.00 ranges which in my opinion are a good price range for this stick.

Club Member Feedback - The feedback that I have from other members is that these sticks are good and that they will be looking for more of them at our local shops and lounges. They loved this cigar.

My Final View - My final view for this cigar is it’s a great affordable cigar that burns well. I really enjoyed the flavors and can see myself smoking this cigar as an everyday smoke. I’m really glad Andy sent this box for our club to review. We are always happy to welcome a new guy to the market with our full support! Andy is a great person to talk to and really wants to get his name out there and we are happier than ever to help him do that……GREAT CIGAR ANDY, GOOD LUCK AND KEEP IN TOUCH

I was contacted by Shelly Macmillan Director at TLG to do a review on their NEW Yngwie J. Malmsteen Tribute Humidor and I was more the happy to assist her.

A little background on Yngwin J. Malmsteen from TLG: Yngwie J. Malmsteen made a huge impact on the world of guitar playing with his Neo-Classical Metal/Rock style of music with his jaw-dropping first solo album in 1983 (at the age of 20) called "Rising Force" and continues to amaze the world to date, with his superb technique and exciting stage performances.

TLG Canada decided in June 2009 to create and manufacture this tribute to Yngwie, something that was within their area of expertise. TLG really impressed me with their outstanding attention to detail and craftsmanship. There is nothing lost in the detail of this project, the graphics are true and the picture is crisp. The high gloss black lacquer makes this box pop. OUTSTANDING!

Inside this unit was many goodies, solid high shine brass hinges with great wood work, very solid construction, no lose ends. This humidor is advisable to perform the “SLAM TEST”. Open the lid about 3-4 inches high and let go, it will never slam shut. It quietly drops close, letting excess air out.

My unit came with and yours will too, all the instructions needed to setup and maintain your humidor. I seasoned my box on a Friday and by Tuesday I had it filled it with my favorite stogies.
