Ryoga, The CAO gold was a big turnoff to me also. I avoided the brand for years but recently found the Brasilia and the Italia to be quite pleasant smokes.

That very cigar along with the CAO Gold both made me steer completely clear of any cigar with the word "gold" in it. I guess they use a pricey-sounding descriptive to help sell the damn things, because that's the only selling point.…

First cigars I ever had were some cheap crap. I had a full on allergic reaction to them, closed up my throat caused blisters the whole damn thing. Took my almost 4 more years before I decided to risk a cigar.
