Great New Cigar...Camacho Coyolar

This past Saturday night was very nice. It was an unsual 62 degrees for winter here. No wind and no chill. It was actually pleasant. I sat outside my favorite sports bar/pool hall (damn ban) and enjoyed the Camacho Coyolar cigar. I usually don't go outside my usual brands but the Camacho company has done some neat things online that I have noticed, like this site for example, and I decided to research their cigars. I found a Camacho Coyolar here in Albuquerque and the rest is recent history. The…See More

The Ashtray of History: History of Tobacco Prohibition

An old issue of Atlantic Monthly had a very interesting article entitled, “The Ashtray of History, in which Abigail Cutler, the author looks at the history of smoking bans. Ms. Cutler even states in the article that past smoking bans usually didn’t last. The lesson Ms. Cutler passes on is that there have, and will be, periods of government attempts to squash personal liberty but that they never last. Below is the chronicled history of past attempts at big/nanny government smoking bans from the…See More

The Third-Hand Smoke Fallacy

Posted on February 3, 2009 at 7:14pm 7 Comments

The anti-tobacco (aka anti-free choice) crowd have always gone to great lengths to push their own opinions on others via smoking bans, higher tobacco taxes and etc. First, we had bans on private property establishments. Then, bans on where tobacco products could be sold. Then, even more bans on tobacco advertising. Then, attempts to 're-edit' old movies to take out smoking. It became where the anti-smoknig/anti-freedom nazis could accuse smoking of causing anything and coming up with any… Continue
