Scott Truesdale replied to Herbert Kaufman's discussion Strongest Cigar
"If you get sick or dizzy, I recommend something sweet - a little sugar will help put your feet back on the ground. Always does the trick for me. As for the strongest cigar I've smoked, I think it was the LFD Maduro Double Ligero - my wife (who…"

Profile Information

Hometown:
Washington, DC
About Me:
I work in Political Advertising, love the Boston Red Sox (...oh, Boston you're my home), am married to a terrific cigar-loving wife, can't wait to return to Africa, been in the water with great white sharks, challenged by a bull African elephant in Botswana, visited the Blue Mosque during Ramadan, worship the eternal cool of Miles Davis and the good grooves of the Rolling Stones, and can't get through a week without good wine and great cigars (or, if it's a particularly trying week, good scotch and great cigars).
Favorite Cigar Brand:
Tatuaje, Punch, Rocky Patel, La Gloria Cubana, Cohiba, La Flor Dominicana, CAO.
What cigar accessories do you own?
We have a humidor, a very nice ashtray that was "liberated" from the Hay Adams Hotel bar, just before the DC smoking ban took effect (after all, what were they going to do with it), a nice selection of cutters from some of America's finest cigar bars and shops, and a couple of very flashy lighters.
How many box purchases do you make a year?
I usually prefer to buy single sticks or a selection...but I will buy a box for assorted events. We just moved to a home with a yard, so cigar consumption is bound to go up.
Did someone invite you to Social Cigar? And if so who?
I found this on my own...and am looking to join other fans and friends for conversation and cigars

It's a boy!

Of course, he's not actually arrived yet. My wife still has just over a month left in her pregnancy (not soon enough for her, I have to add). But with the crib built, the stroller assembled, and the baby's room finished, my thoughts turn to celebrating the moment with - of course - cigars.

But here's my problem. While most of my friends would welcome a celebratory cigar, they're not exactly aficionados. Me? I plan to fire up a…

As a frequent visitor to this much-loved forum, I read - and often contribute - to the many spirited discussions about cigars, politics, sports, etc. Yet apart from cigars my favorite conversation threads are the ones centered around that other preferred vice - drinking. I've enjoyed reading the many opinions about preferred scotches, favored bourbons and… Continue

When good bands go bad...

Posted on December 8, 2009 at 11:19am 0 Comments

As a music buff, I spend a lot of time talking and writing about what music is great - but not so much time offering up my thoughts about what music (or those "artists" responsible for it) is bad. Just as I have my favorites, I also have a list of favorite whipping boys - those bands that should be ranked along side waterboarding as a form of cruel torture. My own list begins and ends with Boston - a band of such wretched aural excess that on occasion I find myself wishing I was from… Continue

Things to be thankful for...

Posted on November 30, 2009 at 12:08pm 0 Comments

Well, another Thanksgiving has come and gone. The turkey and pies are history and I'm back to the four food groups and daily long walks with the intention of shedding some unwanted pounds. Yet the thanking and the gratitude still go on...so, with that said, here's a short list of things I am truly thankful for...

Boylan's Diet Soda. : Gotta say, it's one thing to be a cigar and wine aficionado...it's quite another to be as enthusiastic about diet soda. Silly, even. Diet Coke… Continue

Ranting and Raving...

Posted on October 15, 2009 at 2:28pm 2 Comments

Once again, I find myself unable to whittle this blog posting down to a single topic upon which I can wax philosophic on. So, I'm going to cut straight to the chase again and offer some thoughts and observations on the timely matters of the day...

First, I'm very pleased that there seems to be couple of new cigar bars and clubs popping up in the DC area. My wife and I have never been happy smoking over at Shelly's, so it's awfully good to have some choices back in the city. I do wish… Continue

Hey Scott,
Let me know if you'd like to join a few of the local SC'ers for a smoke at one of the local cigar shops. We try to get together once a week if possible. Usually it's more like twice a month...but we try.
