Building a Humidor...should I attempt it?

I guess I could just Google this, but if any out here has ever tried building a Humidor? I have this problem...there are some Cigars I just refuse to smoke... they just look too cool, so they sit and I show my friends my prized collection of about 6...however, I've notice my everyday cigars are taking up most of the space, so I plan on making a humidor that is divided in the middle, with standards on one side, and exquisite ones on the other.
Here are my Dimensions:

42'' x 14'' x 6"

This will be a Carrying case constructed of Pure wood. I'm tired of those Camera looking alluminum deals with the foam on the inside. I was hoping to have at least a .5 '' of lined Cedar to really hold some moisture. I'm clueless on the outter pieces of wood(maybe you can help me out on this one). I was thinking in the area of Maple or Cherry, or a combo of the two. Really Clean craftsmanship(hope I can pull that one off). And the coolest thing, my Uncle has a C&C machine, so I was hoping to have a DIE made by him with my Monogram. THEN I take the die and Burn it on the top of the case.

Can someone give me some feedback on my dreams? Am I just wasting my time and shouldn't attempt this?

Albert, there are so many reasonably priced humidors, offering various capacities, that making one seems, to me, a waste of time. But, then, I have the mechanical aptitude of a Cramelite nun!. Unless you're very handy, and enjoy that kind of work, there is no 'economic' rationale for building a humidor yourself.

I don't know anything about it, Albert, but it sounds way cool - especially the part about having your uncle make a die so you can burn your monogram into the wood.
