Cigar Fest 2010 was a blast!!
The event itself, was just another event. For me what makes it such a success is the participation of our fellow BOTL's (and SOTL's) from Social Cigar.
This year, those of us that stayed in the villa's were surprised by an extra treat from both Camacho & Reyes Family cigars. We each received a half dozen or so sticks including Room 101's, Alidos Miami's and Reyes Family Vintage. A big shout out and thank you to Dylan of Camacho and Jose Ortega of Reyes. I would be remiss if I didn't thank Eric for managing all of the details.
At the BBQ we were offered all sorts of treats from burgers and dogs to ribs and a good old fashioned pig roast. Yes, we totaled an entire 85 pound pig, roasted on the spot, courtesy of big D and his New York crew. We had ton's of giveaways this year, from smokes to SC swag to more smokes and more SC swag. Among other notables was homebrew from both Erik and Kalutika as well as my now famous sushi, made fresh on site this year. Late night entertainment was provided by Carlos of Camacho. (this is an inside joke). On Saturday night's BBQ, in addition to Dylan and Jose, our presence was graced by none other than Don Pepin and his family. Good times indeed.
All of the notable cigar vendors were at the festival itself an, as much as we complain about CI increasing their numbers each year, it's still a blast. This years CI swag included an ashtray, Colibri Slice cutter, messenger bag (as opposed to the duffle) and a humidor full of smokes. This event, make no mistakes, is all about CI making money. That's ok, the value of a ticket is well worth the "freebies". What makes the event truly memorable is the SC crew. This year I think we had about 70 that attended the BBQ, 30 or so in the Villa's and I ran into another dozen at the Fest itself.
Cigar Fest 2011 here I come!!!
