"Terri: I had the La Gloria Cubana tonight. Excellent cigar! But it's not what I would have on a regular, daily basis...it was very strong for such a small cigar! It went well after my big steak dinner and a glass of cabernet tonight, however. It's very dense and flavorful. It is well constructed. I will probably want to have a few of these around for "special" nights. Wow!

Terri:

Hope you're having a good week.

I smoked the Romeo Y Julieta Reserva Real last night and enjoyed it. It burned well and evenly, was an easy draw and stayed consistent throughout. I need to give myself more time though. I felt I rushed through it and probably didn't enjoy it as much as I should or could have. In other words, I like it and it's probably even better that I think.

More reviews to come. I'm really leaning towards the smaller cigars. A few weeks ago in Dallas, I had a Rocky Patel "Edge" and really enjoyed that. I'm thinking of trying the La Gloria Glorias next.

Terri:

I started the sampling tonight with the Helix Remix. It was very interesting. I read about the amaretto liquer but I did not expect it to be so prominent. I can still taste the sweetness of the cigar on my lips!

It burned well and it was the right size for a quick and nice after-dinner smoke. The fist half to 2/3 was definitely better than the final 1/3 which went from creamy and sweet to bitter (and sweet!). It was a little challenging in the draw for such a small cigar. Overall, I like the mildness but think it was too sweet for me.

Hopefully my reviews are helpful to you. After I smoke them all, I'll rank them in order of preference and I'll order some of my favorites.

Thanks again for sending these.

More from Vic -

Terri:
I had the Don Tomas Sun Grown after dinner last night. A friend of mine came to visit. He and I usually have dinner and Bible study on Monday nights and then smoke a cigar but we couldn't get together this past Monday. I was not intending on smoking a cigar last night so it was a bit of a surprise. I gave him an SB Torpedo that I get from a local store and I decided to go with the Don Tomas.

Unfortunately, I didn't really care for the Don Tomas. Everything about the cigar in terms of structure, construction, feel, wrapper was good but it was just not pleasant tasting to me. It reminded me of a "golfing cigar" where the intent is not to relax and enjoy a smoke but to just have a cigar on the course. Could be any cigar.

On another note, my friend was intrigued by the description of the Helix Remix when he read the review (if you recall, I smoked that one first, but I thought it was "too" sweet). Based on my friend's interest, when I place my order, I will order a couple of those just so he can try them.

Enjoy Mothers Day today!

I'm a big fan of the La Gloria Cubanas. I love the Serie R especially - when perfectly humidored they're an excellent cigar. When not stored with care they can be terribly inconsistent - with a tough draw and a constant need for relighting.
