Brothers and Sisters!!! The Rev was hipped to the Cigar Rights of America group while perusing the Stellar and Stupendous Member Pages of this magnanimous web site, Can any of this esteemed and enlightened congregation of cigar smokers relate their knowledge of this organization? The Rev is hesitant to join any group that would have him as a member (present company excluded of course), so he would appreciate any and all testimony regarding the Cigar Rights of America outfit.

Brother Charming...Likewise, the Rev views those who make self-appraisals of their level of Charm part of THEIR nomenclature with a dubious eye..... :)

But seriously, The Rev is only following in the footsteps of his alma mater - the officially monikered The University of Arizona. Believe the Rev when he says you can find much more substantial reasons to be skeptical of him besides the use of the article "the".

Thanks for the insight...but the Rev is perpetrating a work-around to the whole cigar smoking venue situation. Hence, a Church. More to follow...

I'm also skeptical of anyone who gives themself a moniker that begins with the word "the" - but that is another story, lol.

When I saw the to me hefty asking price for membership that turned me off, to be honest. Yes, in the grand scheme of things, I guess a few hundred dollars is not much, to have the chance to support our rights. But I'm skeptical of the idea of banding together for causes, whatever the cause may be. We should by now see the writing on the wall. It's a shame that we are lumped in together with cigarette smoking, but that's just the way it is, and I doubt that is going to change. And you are not going to find a politician or anybody who is going to stand up for the right to smoke cigarettes. It's a dying habit - literally. And personally, I like being able to go to clubs and restaurants and not be assaulted by impenetrable clouds of cigarette smoke. In NYC, we have some cigar lounges where cigarette smoking is not allowed. For some people this is bewildering, because they can't understand discriminating against one kind of smoking, but I find that stance to be incredibly sophisticated, and hopefully the wave of the future.

Sorry this is so rambling, but my position boils down to: too expensive for me to join right now, but I support their efforts to separate us from cigarette smokers (if that's what they are doing), and hope some reasonable people will understand the validity of having places for us to smoke our cigars.
