Interview with Eric Newman of JC Newman Cigars

My first foray into the JC Newman world of cigars was with the Cuesta Rey Centenario No 60 Torpedo. This maduro uses a Connecticut broadleaf to impart a ton of creamy, smooth flavor in the Dominican made cigar that's just absolutely
beautiful. At around $6 a stick, it's a value for those looking to try something
different.

Then I moved to California and in 2005 I discovered Cuesta Rey cigars at a cigar tasting in a shop no longer around. The Centro Fino was being pushed to some of the shops and as a result I bought three cigars and was given one free.
I lit up the Centro Fino (which means Fine Center- from which part of the plant
trimmings the leaves come from) and as immersed in a fuller flavored, robust
cigar with spice to pair with the creaminess I'd grown so fond of.


Having the pleasure to interview Eric Newman, president of JC Newman Cigars is definitely an honor right up there with getting to talk to my favorite romance authors. Or Pete Johnson of Tatuaje Cigars. Mr. Newman is IMO a living
legend, full of history both passed down from his father and grandfather and
personally experienced. His interview recalls stories of several times in the
history JC Newman Cigar Company where adversity reared its head and courage,
integrity and creativity prevailed.
