Due to the volume of bills on the calendar S3410 was not voted on yesterday. However, we anticipate a vote within the next 24 – 48 hours. Tobacconists, shop patrons, cigar manufacturers and manufacturers representatives of New York State, we need your help right now.

Now it’s time for the Assembly to act!

The work isn’t done. For the cigar tax cap to become law it much pass both the Senate and the Assembly before reaching Governor Cuomo’s desk for a signature. A1093A (the Assembly’s version of S3410) is currently in the Committee on Ways & Means and has to move from that Committee in order to make it on the calendar for a vote.

The current legislative session ends THIS Friday, June 17, failure now means another 6 months of waiting. New York’s tobacconists cannot survive another 6 months of onerous taxation and the State of New York cannot afford another 6 months of tax revenue lost to neighboring states.
