I felt compelled to write this review becase A): I havent done one yet. B): Because this particular cigar was such a suprise to me. Allow me to explain:
The Padilla Obsidian was a cigar I was looking at for a long time and wanted to try it, yet I never got around to it because they were rather expensive and there are so many I still have yet to try. One week before xmas, there was a special deal on C-Bid for a ten pack of these for 19.99. Considering they go for around 5 bucks apiece normally, I jumped at it and soon got them a few days after the christmas festivities.

This cigar was just one of those suprises that ended up being a very enjoyable one. I almost never go the distance and buy ten of something I have never sampled before, but I did anyways. I apologize ahead of time because I did not take step by step photos of me smoking it:

The cigar is dark, very dark
Upon toasting and lighting it had a very dry yet peppery flavor for the first inch or two
It eventually put on a "burnt coffee" flavor which really probably was just coffee and the ongoing pepper flavors mixing together. About 1/3 of the way in it really started to show its true colors with some wonderful coffee, wood, and hints of chocolate coming in. At this point it really reminded me of the Liga Privada only with more strength if you follow me.
What really suprised me was the last 3 inches or so brought on a new and different flavor I have never experienced in a cigar before. . . Cherry! I swear to God it tasted like bittersweet chocolate flavored wood with just the slightest hint of cherry at the end.
Throught the smoke, I never had to relight or retouch and the ash just fell only 3 times on its own.

I gave one to my roomate to enjoy with me and we both agreed that this is a seriously solid cigar. It is also so interesting for two or more people to smoke the same new cigar at the same time because each persons palate is different, yet always rewarding.
It was just such a suprise to find such a flavor profile in a cigar. It wasnt for any special occasion or anything, but just one of those amazing experiences that a wonderful cigar can provide.

If anyone else has had or tried this cigar, I would be interested to hear what you have to say about it!
I did not have it with this cigar, but coffee IMO would pair wonderfully with this particular smoke.

Sweem... I did a review on the Obsidian, about a year ago before they removed the cigar review area [still don't understand that]. I agree that it is an outstanding cigar. Full bodied, med-full strength, and great taste. Your assessment is pretty much spot on with mine. I have not experienced the difficult draw that some of the others have mentioned, and I have smoked many. Great cigar!

Mine was tight at first for like half an inch, but after that it was great
