I had to run into the Tobacco Merchant to pick up a few treats today, and I talked myself into being adventurous and trying a new cigar. So, I perused the humidor and found a Saint Luis Rey, Serie G. I had never had any of their cigars, so this was going to be exciting. I chose a 5x56 (Rothschilde).
The wrapper is a very toothy maduro wrapper. It is nice, thick and oily. It cut very clean, and the initial pre-lit draw was just right. Upon lighting the cigar the burn was even and the flavor profile was perfect for me. It may have just been the kind of day, or my mood, but this was by far one of the best cigars I have had in a long time. There was no harsh after-taste, and the smoke was nice and thick. The burn was very even, and the ash stuck around for what seemed like forever. I went ahead and picked up a few more for later. If you have not tried one... you should. God Bless all.
