"Social" Cigar...what it really means to me

I am not a blogger. I very rarely have something to say that I would rate as "blog" worthy. What does that really mean, "blog worthy"? Anyway I digress...

Since I have been a member of this site for going on three years I have been rather active. So here it is...my blog. Probably just random thoughts which belong to me and really; agree or disagree they are my thoughts.

Unlike other cigar sites that are available "Social" is a word that to me describes what cigars are all about. It matters not what cigar, or how much the cigar costs, how long it has been aged, whether you stored it with cello on or cello off, where it was rolled, what wrapper it has, what it tastes like, how strong it is, etc. etc. etc. the one thing that it has in common is "Social". Its a lifestyle, a common bond that supersedes all other aspects of humanity as we know it.

It matters little where you are from, what your favorite sports team is, your gender, your sexual preference, political views, etc. etc. a cigar can cross all divides like nothing else I have ever known. To me the cigar is secondary, a bonus, icing on the cake so to speak. The enjoyment of social interaction with fellow human beings is what is important and what I treasure most about cigars. Simply put, it is all about the brothers and sisters sharing that common bond that is an inherent part of the "cigar lifestyle".

This is what I cherish and what I sincerely hope this site continues to provide. Hey reviews are great, getting the inside scoop on new releases, best deals on favorite sticks and suggestions are all very important. What sets this site apart from all of the others is the "Social" aspect of cigars.

This past weekend is just a prime example. I smoked countless cigars, top quality, some even what would be considered "rare" not just hard to find. But what do I remember about this weekend most? Getting to hang with guys and gals like Mark, Tom Martin and his wife Sandi, Brian "Loomis", Duane Holmes, Micah and soon to be Kim Dennison, Paulie, Sandi and Herbie,Michael (Mikey) Schneider, Eric Brown, John Johnson and a couple of his buddies, Bill Hueslman (Torpedo2), Brian D., Tucker, Mitch, Kevin, Dave....and others whom I apologize for not listing (sometimes I suck at names). You get my point...

It is great to relax and have a great time laughing it up with friends. It's not about the cigars its about the "Social" after all that is what everyone listed and many others are to me...friends. It wasn't the cigars that have afforded me the opportunity to be blessed with the ability to meet and make these friends but the "Social" aspect that this site has afforded me. When it becomes "all about the cigars" this site will no longer be the site for me...bring on the reviews...but please remember this is at least for now "Social" cigar!

Life steers you away from time to time, but part of being friends with people, is understanding that life may come between you, but when they return, it's as if they never left.

Chicago sounds like an interesting trip. Unable to make Thursday's event in IL but I'll figure out a time to visit Chi-town.

I've been busy tending to my dad's health the last couple days. (He's back up and running pretty well now, thanks.) I miss being able to visit the site during any such time, but of course much more so with those of you I've been able to meet in person in the past.
