This topic is always one of my favorites. I'm curious what this group's opinion is?

My vote always goes to John Elway. This guy could do everything...read defenses, run with the best of them, and throw a bullett!!!!!

He never had any "special" receivers (although he did have a "special" TE) and was always a top producer at his position. He was always fun to watch. Add to that, he finally won a couple Super Bowls.

Now, it is your turn to discuss your top QB!

This is a tough one because there has been so many, Great QB's. Being a bengals fan, I think Kenny Anderson was good but not great. I probably would have to go back in time to Pittsburgh Terry Bradshaw. That hurts me to have to say that because I hate Pittsburgh and I love hatting them! But he probably in my opinion was the best.

This is tough, because you still have Montana, Griese and Marino. I think any of these could be thrown into the mix.

I'm not going to dog Elway because I really think he was a great QB, however it was much in part of one of the best O' lines in the game. If you remember he really didn't get it done until he had TD, that's because the Hog Mollies opened up huge gaps for major yards. This question is always a fixed one, every great QB had a great team, that is what made them great. Montana had Rice, Craig, Lott and won championships, Aikman had Smith, Irvin, Sanders and won championships, so on and so on.

1.Tom Brady ( does it with average role players and has won championships)
2. Joe Montana
3. Troy Aikman
4. John Elway
5. Brett Farve

First off your number 2 should be number 1. I am NOT a San Fran fan, but I don't think anyone can argue that Montana was the greatest. Popular Mechanics once did an article about artificial intelligence and were saying that before AI could be achieved not only would the processor have to make many computations, but it would have to make split second decisions based upon intangibles that only humans have the ability to make. And then they spent a great deal of the article taking about and evaluating the decisions made by Montana on the football field. They used high tech cameras that did nothing but watch Montana's eyes and showed how involved his eyes were in making all those decisions and how many times he would evaluate the whole field. The guy was a machine that not only was great at his position, but unlike Marino, he could win championships.

Tony, Tony, Tony, you are killing me! Tom Brady stretches for mediocrity and mostly fails to achieve it. He is NOTHING with out that front line. He scrambles as if he's in a wheel chair. He is not even in my top ten. I wouldn't trade Brady for Palmer. Other than that your top 5 is pretty strong. I would replace Aikman for Marino, and I think Farve and Griese is about the same. You need to add some of the old time REAL QB's who didn't have all the talent around them like Bradshaw, Fran Tarkenton, Broadway Joe, Roger Staubach.

Oh Scott, Palmer over Brady???? Come on. Palmer has tons of talent around him and has done nothing with it. Brady has won 3 Super Bowls with Troy Brown as his goto receiver. Just because you hate Michigan, don't take that out on Brady! Tom is no Art Schlichter, but come on! LOL!!!!!!

Scott, talk about mediocre, Bradshaw wouldn't even be able to park on the same street as the Hall of Fame if not for Swan and Stallworth. If they didn't have the leaping ability that they had Bradshaw wouldn't have near the yards he has, not to mention the rings, and you mentioned Tom's O'line what about the Steel Curtain or Franco. What makes a great QB is Championships, the great ones know how to lead a team to the top, you can't put Marino ahead of Troy. The football world still talks about Montana, the great Cowboy dynasty and they worship Farve, who even talks about Marino, a matter a fact at this years Monday After The Master party my friends wife asked him if he was David Hasselhoff.

Kenny Anderson had a pretty stellar career with a patchwork Bengals squad.
Bernie Kosar had his moments.
Warren Moon could throw the rock.
Randall Cunningham - great all around athlete.
Jim Kelly - perennial bridesmaid

Dave, Dave, Dave...no offence, but your list is loaded with guys that would rank in the 20's-40's of all time. Kelly & Moon, maybe top 20, but not the rest. I know Moon is a HOFer, but not the greatest. Next, you will tell us that Ickey Woods and Chris Collinsworth were the best at their respective positions! LOL!!!!

Looking at those guys that didn't have a Jerry Rice or Randy Moss to throw to. Jim Kelly was the big stretch for me since he had that loaded offense.

I'm a Bengals fan, but not with blinders on. Montana, Brady and Aikman had stacked offenses - you're cherry picking if you pick those guys. Elway and Farve did the same or more with less. I'm surprised Payton Manning's name didn't come up more.

Bradshaw is definitely on this list. He was great. Of course, I am biased towards Staubach! He was awesome, especially considering he spent a few of his "great" years in Vietnam. I've always thought that Namath was over-rated. He threw 47 more INT than TD. Is the bearded guy that you were thinking about Dan Fouts? He could throw the rock!

Yeah, I enjoyed watching him play. That SD/MIA playoff game was one of the greatest!
