I used to go in the other direction, and put creme de cacao on vanilla ice cream. In the 80s, my roommate inherited a liquor cabinet when her parents moved to Las Vegas; included in it were some exotic things that my roommate would never drink, so I got to experiment a little bit.
Ingredients:
2 1/2 ounces vodka
1 splash of dry vermouth
3 green olives for garnish
Instructions:
Pour a little bit of dry vermouth in a chilled martini glass, swirl to
coat the inside of the glass and dump the remaining.
Pour vodka into shaker with ice and shake till you are happy.
Place 3 olives (on a stick..) in the chilled Martini glass and pour the vodka over them.
Stir, never shake. Shaking aerates ("bruises") the vodka (or gin), causing it to look milky until the bubbles eventually disperse. It doesn't affect taste, but it sure does affect the aesthetic of those of us who dearly love the silver bullet...
